Chapter 24

Veronica's POV I walked into the packhouse and it was unusually quiet.  I looked into the TV room and saw a few of the younger girls watching a movie.  I could hear laughing coming from the dining room so I walked over there to see what was going on.  I hope they weren't talking about this sham of a Luna Ceremony.  I smirked.  They could plan all they wanted but it wouldn't be happening. "Hey what's up?" I greeted them and sat at the table.  Skyler and Jessie were sitting there with the Gamma's mate but Simone wasn't there. "Just discussing what we're going to wear to the Luna ceremony," Skyler said.  "I can't wait until it's all official."  It took everything in me not to roll my eyes. "What have you been up to?" Jessie asked. "Just went to meet with some...friends," I said.  "Where's Simone?" "We won't see her until the ceremony," Skyler said.  "She's occupied."  She wiggled her eyebrows.  I looked at her confused.  "She's in heat," Skyler said. "What?!" I shouted before I could catch myself.  "I mean...that's unexpected.  What about the ceremony?" "She'll be fine by then," Skyler said.  "What's wrong with you?" "Nothing.  I have to go."  I got up and quickly walked out of the packhouse and back to my house. F*ck!  I wasn't expecting her to have her heat right now.  How was I going to get her out before the Luna ceremony now?  I had to think of something. Kaleb's POV I can't believe Simone got a second chance mate so quickly.  Alpha mates at that.  Three f*cking mates!  Basil growled in my head.  He was livid.  That girl really expected us to believe that Simone tricked the Alphas into believing she was their mate.  Simone wasn't like that.  I wanted to know what this girl's issue was with Simone other that her obvious obsession with wanting her Alphas as her mate but I couldn't think about that right now.  All I could think about was getting my mate back. "Are you ok?" Jason asked walking up to me.  I was sitting in the gym just thinking after getting a much needed workout after the she-wolf from Dark Sky Pack left. "I don't know man," I told him.  "How am I going to get her back?" "We have to wait and see what the she-wolf comes up with," Jason said.  "But I think..." he stopped talking. "Just give it to me straight man." "I think you should just try waiting for a second chance mate," he said making me growl.  "I understand you want her back but you rejected her and she already got her second chance.  We should just leave her and let her be happy.  She's been through enough.  Plus going up against Dark Sky right now is suicide." "They won't know we have her." "They will," he said.  "They already know we were looking for her. Why do you think she was guarded at the mall?  This will start a war." "Then it's war," I said getting up and walking out. Jason's POV "It's very urgent that I speak with one of  them," I urged the warrior that wouldn't let me in.  "It's a matter of life and death.  It's about your Luna." "What about the Luna?" He asked. "Please just get your Alpha." I waited for a few minutes while he had a conversation through mindlink before letting me in. "Drive straight to the packhouse.  Someone will be waiting for you there." I nervously drove through wondering if I was making the right decision.  This had to be the right decision.  I couldn't let a war happen.  Kaleb and my father weren't thinking straight.  We wouldn't survive a war and if we did, I would be the one left to clean it up.  I couldn't become Alpha with this over my head.  Something needed to be done.  I know my father and Kaleb would be furious if they knew what I was up to but I made my decision and I felt like this was the right thing. I got out of my car and was greeted by the former Alpha of Dark Sky Pack. "Simone is in danger," I told him. "Aren't you Alpha Daniel's son?" Former Alpha Steven asked. "Yes I am." "Then why are you here?  How did you know Simone was here and what makes you think she is in danger?" He asked. "Someone from your pack came to mines saying she could help us get Simone back before the Luna Ceremony.  My dad and my Beta are up for the plan but I am not.  I know the way we treated Simone was wrong and I want to make amends.  She is in danger here because someone in your pack is betraying you." "Do you have a name?" "No.  But she said....." I stopped talking when the most amazing scent hit my nose.   "MATE!" Harem howled in my head. I looked behind Alpha Steven and saw the most beautiful she-wolf I had ever seen. Silas' POV I was more exhausted than I thought I would be during Simone's heat.  I figured since there were three of us it would be easier but I was totally wrong.  We had a ridiculous amount of energy drinks sitting in our bedroom.  I don't know if it had something to do with her having two wolves but her smell was incredibly intoxicating and we could only cool her off for three hours at the most before she needed us again.    We barely slept and I know my brothers were as exhausted as I was. I was taking a shower while Sage and Sebastian were with Simone since I spend the last eight hours with her when I got a mindlink from my father saying it was urgent that one of us got to the office immediately.  Since I was the only one free I hurried in the shower and rushed to get dressed and to the office.  I was not expecting to see the future Alpha of Halfmoon Pack when I got there. "What are you doing here?" I growled. "He's here to help son," my father said.  "Give him a minute to explain." "Talk," I said. I listened as he explained how a she-wolf from my pack came to tell them how she could assist in getting Simone to them.  My first thought was Fiona until he said the she-wolf was close to Simone and she trusted her.  Everyone loved Simone.  I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to hurt her.  Plus not many people knew about her relationship with Halfmoon Pack.  I'd  have to talk to my brothers and sister to see if the knew how many people in the pack knew of her past. "Why would you betray for father and come here?  From what I heard, you were one of her tormentors," I said.  "And you've had warriors searching for her." "Yes, everything that I did was wrong.  The way we treated her was wrong.  I've had time to think and I know better now.  My father sent all of those searches when he found out about a prophecy he believes may be about Simone. I helped because my Beta needed her." "Your Beta rejected her." "I know.  And when he rejected her his wolf basically rejected him for it.  He wouldn't shift and gave him a hard time.  His wolf wanted Simone.  I wanted to help him." "He can get a second chance mate the same way she did.  She doesn't belong to him.  He's not taking her." "What the f*ck are you doing here?" Sebastian shouted coming into the office. "Calm down brother.  Just let him finish talking so he can go then I will explain everything to you and Sage."  He was trying to calm down but I could tell he was having trouble calming his wolf down. "Havoc can you try to reach out to Midnight to calm him," I spoke to my wolf. "I'll try." "Ok so this she-wolf do you have a name?" "No but she gave my dad her number and if I saw her I could point her out to you.  All I know is she said she was close to Simone and she trusted her.  She has an obsession with you and your brothers.  She says that she's supposed to be your Luna and Simone tricked you into believing she was your mate.  She wants this done before the Luna ceremony which is why I came here as soon as I could.  I tried telling Kaleb he should just forget about Simone and wait for his second chance mate.  At first he didn't want her back, he only wanted her to help with his wolf.  But now there's a look in his eyes that I never seen before.  He says that Simone is his mate and he wants her.  He won't listen to reason.  And my father is obsessed with power.  He's not going to stop trying to come for her.  I'm putting myself in a lot of sh*t coming here but I didn't know what else to do." "Dad what do you suggest we do?"  My brothers and I were the Alphas now but my father's advice always meant a lot to us. "I think we need a list of people she has interacted with.  We need to find out who knows about her being a member of Halfmoon pack.  We need a list of those she is close to and I'm sorry to say but we may need to cancel the Luna ceremony.  We can do the ceremony in private if you want with just family and ranked members and do a celebration with the pack at a later date.  Right now the priority is keeping Simone safe." I looked over at Sebastian and I could still see the anger in his face.  "The four of us will discuss it together.  We need to figure out who the she-wolf is.  We'll be in touch." "My father may still try to come here for the meeting you have on Saturday," Jason said. "Of course he will," I said.  "His attempt to get Simone will fail and he will come here to the meeting for an alliance.  There will be no alliance as long as your father is Alpha.  When you become Alpha we may consider it.  You feel like you are betraying your father but you did the right thing and that's what makes you strong.  Doing the right thing isn't always easy.  A lot of people choose the wrong path because its the easiest.  Your owning up to you mistake and making the right choices.  Not only is that a good alpha but that's a good person." "I'll try to figure something out before then and I'll reach out.  I'll be here with him on Saturday.  Thank you for giving me time to speak.  Before I go....can I speak to my mate?" "Your mate is here?" I asked surprised. "Yes but I didn't get her name.  She ran when she saw me," Jason said. "Dad, who is his mate?"
