Branch got up and was about to fight back when Clairo stood in front of him.
'Clairo, what are you doing' He questioned.
'I dont know why but my gut is telling me to save you. This is what they want, they want to destroy us but we cannot let them. I think that we should wait until we are better prepared' She said looking down.
'But i thought- No its the right thing' He hesitated there for a second.
'Excuse me witches but we are going to go. Please just give us a few more days until we are better prepared' He begged.
'Fine we will give you and the rest of the supernatural community a few more days. You have five days. If you do not come by this tree by seven thirty then we will come for you.' She stated.
'Thanks' Clairo spoke quietly.
Clairo and Branch left the witches and continued to walk on their way home. For some strange reason she was quiet which was unusual because she usually has quite a lot to say. It was awkwardly quite there for a few moments, until Branch spoke to break the silence.
'So erm Clairo what was that over there' He stuttered.
'What was what?' Clairo fiddled with her finger nails, acting nervous but hoping that he would not realize.
'You saw me got hit and then I was about to fight them but you stopped me. Why?
'Just because I don't think we are ready to fight them head on' She continued to walk slowly.
'So you are saying that that is the only reason why you stopped me ? He said flirty.
'Yeah, what other reason would there be''? Clairo distantly laughed nervously.
'No reason' He said.
Clairo and Branch were getting closer towards Branch's woods when Clairo said 'Hey Branch erm so what are we going to do about the ancient witches' She asked concerningly.
'Honestly Clairo I'm as clueless as you are but we need to come up with a plan now and fast. We have five days until the end of the supernatural community comes to an end.' He confirmed.
'Are you sure that that is the correct question you should be asking though' He shifted his shoulders as he continued to walk towards his house with Clairo following behind.
Clairo paused whiles standing still. 'Wait what do you mean?'
'What I mean is that..... wait neverminded. Lets just go back to my place.
'I still need to heal this cut on my forehead from the ancient witches' He glanced at Clairo.
'Okay lets go and come up with a plan' She said as she skipped to Branch's' house, Branch following from behind.
As they were walking Branch kept thinking back to the moment the witches had used a incantation which hit him hard on the rock. Clairo had stopped him from fighting them but why. Branch was thinking that maybe it was because she, deep down cared for him. The Legend, the myth of Clairo Aldaine the impulsive vampire be capable of change- of redemptions. Could she after three centuries be showing signs of kindness, love, emotions but most importantly is her humanity starting to show through after all theses years.
Branch wonders if that might be true. If maybe he will be the reason that Clairo feels something. He wants to believe that she is capable of having humanity. He wants to gain her trust, wants to help her, wants to fulfill what his descendants were never able to do. Half of his mind thinks its possible but the other half tells him that it is not possible. She is still a addictive impulsive blood sucking vampire with no drop of humanity. He knows who she is but apart of him believes that she isn't capable of human facture, that she is not worth or capable of change. How do you manage to pump some feelings into a three century old vampire who has feed on the blood of innocents. He wats to be able to believe that he can change her but he doesn't know if he can, he doubts her as he knows who she is; a murderer. But in order of Clairo to gain his trust he is going to have to trust clairo himself and to believe that she is capable of change.
Branch and Clairo walked to the door as they walked inside.
Branch ran Clairo a cup of coffee and offered it to her.
'Here you go' He said, offering her some black coffee.
' Oh, erm thanks' She said pleasantly.
'Clairo I-
'I-
'You what? spit it out don't be afraid' She laughed.
'What was that over there? He spat out
'What was what?' She questioned politely.
' Do you feel something for me?' Branch said, concerned.
'What no. Whatever I feel for you is in a respectable friendly manner nothing else. Besides you're way too young for me' Clairo slowly panicked as she took a sip out of her coffee,.
Branch smiled which turned into a laugh which made Clairo laugh.
'You know this is the first time that I've seen you act human and your happy' He smirked.
Clairo smiled faintly. As she smiled she was thinking about something, about how is it possible that after a few months of knowing this chap that her humanity is suddenly peaking through. The main factor is does she want her humanity to peak through as for over three centuries she was on the hunt for her lost humanity but now that the time has finally accrued will she accept and embrace it. She is worried that her feelings for branch could turn into something that seemly not on the professional side but that it could be on the way to the romantic aspect side. Love, she has been in love before to his great great grandfather when he used the love that they had for selfish reasons for he wanted immortality and eternal life with her but that caused her pain and so she left him and he died suddenly by the hopeless longing of never being able to see her again so he killed himself with a wooden stake. That is why she is worried, worried that if she consumes herself into his love that her heart will shatter once again. Hearts can be broken effertsily yet its harder to mend.
'Hey earth to Clairo' Branch waved his hand around her.
'Wait what, sorry' Clairo snapped out.
'It seems like you are in another universe or something' Branch's laugh lightened up the mood.
'Oh erm you're hurt, here let me help' she got out a wet towel and alcohol and slowly dabbed it on the freshly cut wound surround his forehead.
'Thanks' He gave her a smile, looking at her eyes which didn't look at him with anger and hatred anymore but with love at least that is what he though.
'You're welcome' She looked up at him, right into his deep sparkly brown eyes.
Clairo had just realized that she had been looking at Branch's eyes for ages, that Branch almost felt uncomfortable. Clairo snapped herself out of the trance.
'I better go before it gets too late' the vampire shacked her head as she walked towards the door, Branch followed.
'Wait erm do you want me to walk you home'? the wolf acted concerned like as if he was talking to a baby wolf.
'No I'm fine its okay' Clairo clarified.
'No but you know its dangerous to head into the woods alone in the dark' the fellow tried to reason.
'I'm old enough to walk home by myself, besides the only thing more dangerous than the woods is me considering that I'm three centuries older than these woods so' Clarity had corresponded.
'Yeah but what if-
'You know when we first met you said that you would have a plan to try to get my humanity back and you know what after over three centuries i think its working' She smiled, happily.
'You really think-
'Humanity is starting to reveals itself.' She flicked her hair.
'See you tomorrow Branch' Clairo started to walk herself home.
'See you Clairo' He smiled with relief.
Clairo was heading home and was almost near her woods when she saw an young man who looked to be about in his thirty's. He was stood at the front of Clairos woods, blocking it.
'Excuse me but this is my woods, you are kind of blocking my view so would you plea-
' I wont let you go into your woods until we have a conversation about something' the man said blocking the front of the woods to where Clairo was walking to even more.
'b****y hell okay just let me pass' the arrogantly vampire said, trying to get pass him.
'You probably don't know the rules. This is my woods and I would suggest to stand aside or something worse will happen to you' Clairo twitched.
'Oh i plan on making that happen' the man gulped in a narcissistic way.
'Can you clarify that for me'? Clairo looked astounded, usually people would fear her. The speak of her name or her murders would drive people to haywire but not this young man for some peculiar reason.
'I know you who you are. The legendary repulsive, arrogant, manipulative, selfish and murderous vampire' He said circling around her, his narcissistic tone approaching.
'Yeah that's me or at least that is who I used to fully be because now its only half of who I am. My humanity is starting to show' the wind breathed heavily on her voice.
'Don't be such a moran, Aldaine.' He laughted
'You expect me to believe that after three centuries of being infatuated with blood, murder, terror, and arrogance. That you have changed because I find that hard to believe' He got closer to Clairo, close to her face.
'Its true, i met someone-Someone who has changed me for the better' Clairo said in a silent tone of voice, looking uncomfortable
'Is that so' giving her a petty puppy dog eye look.
'You know you're a legend down here, in this town. People breathe in fear of your name and your presents. Just because you said that you have found your humanity does not make it true as you have to act recklessly upon it.' He stroked her hair.
'You are much better when you are a blood sucking vampire. Its one of the main reasons as to why I love being a vampire. Its because of you.' the man looked at her eyes.
'You are still a blood sucking vampire. You cant get away from the blood because I bet when you smell and see blood coming from a persons stream that you will switch and you will be back to your old self' He smiled deliciously.
'No I'm not but why are you doing this!' Clairo stumped.
'Because no vampire should have humanity if they do they are mortal. We are an abomination to nature- we are murderous creatures, our first instinct is blood and murder its what we were born to d-
'No! its what we were made to do. Vampires were made to do it two thousand years ago. But we can go against it we can find our humanity we can finally be happy after all these hundreds-thousands years of vampirisms- don't you want to find your h-
'No I don't want to. You only want to change because of that little Alpha wolf boy that I have seen you with' He grabbed her shoulder tight so that they much closer in eye contact.
'Wait how-I didn't think anyone knew-oh you have been spying on me' the man nodded his head at clairo.
'Oh my god you have been spying on me! For what reason' she felts as though she was suddenly sick.
'There was time when I was in love with you. I know crazy, since we never met before now but i always saw you in the woods so elegant, beautiful and dangerous and I wanted someone like that but that was not the case for you. That wolf boy is who you want but do you honestly think that you can change cause of him. I can see that you are trying to change and its not working.
'I think the best way to show you-him- that you have changed, that you can you known withstand the need for blood is to do this.' the man said as she used his finger to cut his arm, blood started to pour down.
Clairo gulped. 'I don't think that's a good- wow it smells so good- strong- I -
'Yes it smells good doesn't it. Drinking this will make you strong and-
The man just thought of a clever idea which he knew would be much to Clairos surprise.
'You know you cant reject the blood its in your duel nature. You know you want it and as much as you try you cannot stop it, it keeps getting stronger by the minute' He began to slowly cut his throat, blood pouring down.
'No I can stop this I can reject the blood- the beautiful delicious looking- blood' Clairo struggled, so hard to reject the blood as she moved further away from the man but she couldn't, she switched. Suddenly her eyes turned black, red veins started to appear below her eyes.
'You know what screw it' She said as her sharp fangs began to reveal itself, she switched and was almost in full vampire blood mode.
'That's what I thought. For some reason there are no mortals to feed on so feed on me. Enjoy it and don't stop. Feed on my arm, my neck until there is no more blood left for you to feed on and after that you will come back as a stronger more impulsive vampire than ever before' He said as he got closer to Clairo until their faces almost touched.
'Gladly' said the full on vampire mode in her.
Her sharp fangs bit into the mans writs, blood flowing down as she kept sucking onto his wrist. It felt and tasted amazing to Clairo.
His arms turned pale when she looked at him and said 'More blood'.
'Of course, on the neck but only if i get to do the same to you' He smirked.
'Yes' Clairo said as she bit into his neck, a stream of blood coming out and in that same moment he bit into her neck, sucking the blood. She kept feeding and sucking onto his neck filled with blood but for some reason she enjoyed this a lot more than when she used to feed onto the human flesh. There is something more exhilarating about sucking onto the blood of a vampire just like herself. They both felt pain as they both were feeding onto each others blood but that is what made it euphoric and incredible.
They couldn't stop.
Meanwhile, Branch was thinking about Clairo all night. He couldn't stop thinking about her and what she said. Maybe she is closer to reaching her humanity than he thought but if there was one question in the universe that he wanted answering would be 'why is he in love with her' She is a impulsive vampire but when they are together he sees the good in her that nobody else sees. He loves her but he is afraid to accept it of what it might do to him if he does.
'Forget it' He said as he walked straight out the door, on his way to look for Clairo. As he got there what he found was astounded and shocking, the look of hurt- disappointment in his eyes.
'CLAIRO! WHAT THE HELL! WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? He said going closer towards her, furious with anger.
Clairo and the man kept feeding on each other, it was enjoyable for some time until Clairo heard a voice shouting at her. She stopped feeding on the man and he did as he noticed who was there.
'What sup, wolf' the man mocked.
'Branch its not what it looks like, let me explain' Clairo shrugged the man off her as they both stopped feeding on each other. She got out a tissue from her pocket and tried to wipe off as much of the blood as possible but there was too much so she couldn't wipe of the rest of the blood residue.
'No! I don't want to hear any excuses. You said that you were happy and that you were on your way to find your humanity again. You lied to me' He said in a graysby voice.
' I was but then he came into the woods and he cut himself wanting me to drink his blood and I- I- I couldn't refuse' She looked down.
'You couldn't refuse. That's bold but the truth is that you could have but you didn't want to because you don't want to change. No matter what you will always be a blood sucking vampire even in a thousand years from now you still will be' Branch clenched his hands, his face filling with anger.
'Don't say that- you don't mean that' She said, tears came down her eyes as she went closer to him to grab his hand.
'Don't, please, just stay away from me. Besides you don't need me anymore you have him'. He looked at the tougher and older vampire folk.
'No, there's nothing going on between us-
'You don't have to explain anything to me. I'm not your boyfriend in fact I'm not anything to you' He got closer to her face.
'Don't do that! Don't you dare give up, don't leave me' Clairo broke down.
'I wish that the next person can help you to find your humanity because I am done. I'm going back to my pack the ones who I really trust.
'Goodbye Clairo' He waved goodbye and started to head home.
'Branch no wait!' Clairo shouted for hours and hours but he never came back.
'Well that was fun' Dwight jumped.
' I should have rejected the blood and i should have never let you do what you did. Then Branch and I would still be friends but now i have lost him all thanks to YOU- YOU-
'Hey! don't blame it all on me. You wanted this' He said.
'GET OUT! GET OUT OF MY FOREST- NOW! I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN - JUST GO! Clairo pointed her finger at him.
'But Clairo I-
'JUST LEAVE!' she demanded.
Dwight agreed and so he left the forest, to continue on his journey back to his home.
Clairo sighted, sobbed in tears as she went into her forest to sit on a tree while looking at the night stars. At this very moment Clairo was thinking of Branch when she looked at the stars, what she didn't know was that at this same exact time he was thinking of her. How he felt as though he failed of how wrong he would be about a person like her, he felt defeated. She felts hurt, on how wrong she could be about him. On how could someone like him love someone like her.
Clairo thought that her humanity would be peaking through but right now I guess not but she couldn't be certain that her humanity was not there as whenever she was with Branch it was there for a split moment. Whatever happened today was a one time thing. She still has questions about her humanity but she had come into the conclusion that her humanity is not there but then it is not- not there. The epiphany is somewhere in between, limbo.
