One evening after work, Yudel and Fern unexpectedly appeared at my parents' door. The gifts they brought only made my parents even more apprehensive.
“We thought you might need a stroller,” said Fern. “It was Jerry's, but it's still in good shape.”
“That was very thoughtful,” my mother said to Fern.
“Or I could convert it into a bike for Jerry if you like,” my father said.
“And we have this, too.” Yudel marched a large corrugated box on a hand truck into the apartment and slit it open with his pocketknife to reveal a television.
