By the time graduation was close, Cain had gone completely out of his mind.
Every day, in all our talking, I'd feed him things he'd never told me himself. He started believing I wasn't human. That I was some vengeful spirit who'd come back for his life.
The day Soren woke up, I happily brought Cain the news.
"You hear? Soren's awake. So if he still wants to be with me, think I should say yes?"
Cain's hands were chained down. He glared at me, his eyes bloodshot, his face twisting. "I'll kill you. I'll kill both of you. You filthy pieces of trash!"
I smiled. "Sure."
