Chapter 8
I eased away from Daniel, took a deep breath and gave a nod to Andie and Angel who were poised a couple of steps below me, to indicate I was ready to move on. I kept my eyes focused on the backs of their heads as we made our way down the stairs to a small landing for the exit to the first level below ground. This was where the doctor had her main office, and where I hoped I’d find out who I really was.
No keypad barred access on this side of the door, and there was nothing to prevent Andie from just opening it and stepping out into the small alcove containing the emergency exit and the elevator. Daniel held the door open for me and then crouched to place his torch in the gap to stop it from locking behind us.
