The cold night air hit me like a cold slap but it could not even compete with the heat that was simmering underneath my skin. The heat brought on from the embarrassment I had just faced with Damon.
I stormed down the street to my car, my heels clicked against the pavement. Damon’s words were still echoing in my head, parasite. He had called me a parasite… me of all people.
He didn’t even raise his voice, he didn’t need to. The calm and low tone sent that message deeper than any shout could have. The part that stung wasn’t even the insult itself, it was the way he had dismissed me entirely.
