Mara’s POV
The safe house smelled different today when I walked in, it smelled of food and freshly cooked chicken. I wondered if Damon was the one who had cooked.
Damon was at the table, neat stacks of documents before him, his new Beta seated beside him with chicken on a plate in front of them.
I cleared my throat to announce myself, then walked into the room. Damon’s expression changed like he had been bored before or he was looking forward to the information I had brought.
“Aiden has been coming home later than usual, much later. It’s been three nights this week, at first I thought he was already in before I got home but I heard him sneak in, he walked in just past midnight.
