Mara’s POV
As Damon left the meeting room without a single word. Marius remained where he stood… like as though he was also shocked that Damon had walked out.
The silence between us felt like something old… something preconditioned and historical. I really wasn’t sure where I stood with Marius… sometimes I saw concern in his eyes or even disappointment.
But I also saw a man like my father in him.
It had me wondering if my father would also have been disappointed at how far I had fallen from the path… from the way I had been so sure I was meant to follow. A path he had followed to his end… a warrior, a Beta. My Destiny and birth right.
