Chapter Five
Augusta woke in the night and found Sky awake too. She seemed disposed to talk, so Augusta ventured a question. “You said you had tried s*x with a male. How did that come about?”
Sky took a deep breath. “At a certain point in my life I decided to find out if I had any desire for a male. I know that sounds a bit cold-blooded, but I felt I had to know.”
“So where did you find one?”
“It wasn’t anything illicit. I decided to go to the brothel.”
Augusta was shocked. Fortunately, in the darkness Sky couldn’t see it. Did nice people like Sky go to such a place?
“I believe back in England that sort of thing is regarded as shameful,” Sky said, sensing her friend’s response. “But here it’s more matter of fact. Most women, or a lot of them, give it a try, just to find out. The grea
