Chapter Eight-1

2097 Words

Chapter Eight Two days later, Ocean told Augusta she was going on a fishing trip. Would she like to come along? Augusta was delighted. Ocean said she must get a couple of days off school. It was nearly the end of the term, and that was not difficult. They set off in the afternoon. Ocean said it was about five or six miles, a two-hour walk. She gave Augusta a satchel full of equipment and some food, and had a much larger bag herself which she carried on her shoulders. The two walked along the sandy shore for most of the way, then followed the track inland, up a long hill before descending into a little bay. At one end was a small hut and hauled up on the beach was a boat, a canoe with an outrigger. Inside the hut was very simple: two wooden chairs, some mats, a table and a small cupboard.
