Mia's POV I was waiting patiently in his office the next morning with the contract in my handbag. "Good Morning, Mr Scott." "I wish we could drop the formalities, Miss Jason. Wouldn't that be more comfortable?" His icy blue eyes locked with mine, challenging me. Unfortunately for him, I came prepared. "I'd feel better if we could keep the formalities during and outside work, sir," I said in a mocking tone. He scoffed and was about to say something when he glanced at his assistant Bella, who was there to take notes of our meeting. "During and outside work huh?" He smirked, leaning in his chair. "Okay then, Miss Jason. Let's see how long you keep up with that." I suddenly had the urge to punch the smug look off his face. "I'd love to have another meaningless argument with you today but I'm tired from the wild night I had last night. Thanks to you invading my hotel room last night and pissing me off, I went to a nightclub and had hot s*x with a stranger. Let's get this over with so I can get back to rest." I smiled as his body tensed, trying hard to look unfazed. I imagined what Bella could be thinking about what I was saying as she took notes so I smiled even more. "You should go to your office now." He glared at her. "She should not leave," I said quickly. "It's her job to be here while we have this meeting and it's really important she gets every detail down, don't you think?" "She doesn't need to be here Miss Jason. The contract is clear enough, you just need to sign it right now." "Well, I have some things to negotiate with you, so to avoid any problems in future, she should be here to take notes." "Negotiate? Those are my terms. You either take it or forget it." He clenched his fist. "Did you have the time to go through the contract thoroughly? Seeing as you spent the rest of your night f*****g a man you don't know." "Oh yes, I did. I was able to while he was eating me out like his last meal." "I wonder if that p***y of yours still tastes as good as it used to." "How could you say that, Mr Scott?" I glanced at his Bella, who looked red. "What would your diligent assistant here think of you? I hope she also got that down though. Your boss is lustfully reminiscing about me." I winked at her. "Mia behave yourself." He slammed the desk slightly. "You didn't behave when you invited yourself to my room last night offering to f**k me." "Leave my office." He glared dangerously at Bella. "Right now!" She looked at both of us and sighed before she left. "She looked fed up. Do you usually talk to the females you work with so arrogantly and rudely?" "I own the place. I pay their bills and feed them, so I can treat them any way I want. Do you have a problem with that Mia?" "You need help." I sighed "That's why you're here babe." "Don't call me that, please. I'm not your babe." "You were..." He paused, weighing his words. "Mia, just give me a chance to" "A chance to hurt me again? No, thank you. Enough with that crap." Before he could speak again, I placed the contract on his desk in front of him. "As you can see, I added my terms and cancelled the ones I'm not okay with. Yes, I need you but you need me too, Mr Scott. It can't be all about you, I have the right to have a say and I won't let you use me again. In case you haven't noticed; I'm not the same little girl you played with." I was determined to not let him take control of me and my emotions all over again after I worked so hard to get over him. He wouldn't get to me so easily this time. "If you're ready to go ahead with this, let's sign the contract and get down to real business. It would be in your best interest to stop acting so cocky and agree to my terms too. You need me to move higher in the business world and you know it." I paused to catch my breath. "I also need you to boost my career. So lend me your hand and help me out too by cooperating with me." "I want to cooperate with you, Miss Jason. But I believe what you have planned is too much and unnecessary." "Everything I have planned is for your good and you will go along with it if you want your company to be more successful than what it is now." He stared at me with a hint of longing in his eyes, then cleared his throat before he said, "Before we continue, you should know that I am not your Dylan anymore. I am not the man you loved ten years ago. So if you think that's who you're dealing with now, you're wrong." "You don't have to tell me." I scoffed. "Look, I honestly don't care who or what you are. You were never mine to begin with. I was stupid to think I'd be able to have an easy secret relationship with my brother's best friend and I regret loving you as much as I did then. I hated you for a long time. I wish I still did, but I don't feel a thing for you arrogant ass anymore and I'm proud of myself." His expression turned sad but I wasn't affected one bit. The asshole was pretending and there's no way I'd fall for that look again. "As a little sister who grew up with you and witnessed all your struggles, I'm proud of what you've made of yourself and I respect you in that aspect. It's not just for the sake of my career; I genuinely want to help you go higher. This is a chance to share your story with the world, a chance to inspire other people who had a tough childhood just like you. My mum and brother would love to see that you're doing well too." He'd left everyone in my family behind not just me. My family tried tracing him for a few years before they painfully gave up. My brother was a mess for a while, and so was my mum. They missed Dylan a lot like they'd lost a family member. "How are they? Your mum and Michael?" "You have no right to ask that. You hurt them for a long time after leaving like that. There's no need to pretend you care about them now." He winced. I could see the pain and regret in his eyes and for the first time since we met again, I saw a glimpse of the man I used to know.
