When Zara was about to be discharged from the hospital, the doctor studied her for a moment before speaking.
“I can see you’ve bonded quite well with your daughter,” she said gently. “She responds to you , and that’s a very good sign.”
“But if you want your memories to return more quickly, you should stay close to this man that brought you here . You recognized him at least a little. Right now, he’s the only person your mind seems able to hold onto. Being around him may help your memories come back.”
Zara said nothing. She simply looked ahead, as though she had no words left to give.
Sister Evelyn let out a quiet sigh. “Doctor, he’s her boss. They aren’t related,” she said softly. “He’s already done more than enough by saving her. We can’t burden him any further.”
