Zara froze when she saw him. Of all the people she expected to walk through those doors, Victor was not one of them. Zara stood up immediately and hurried toward him and Lilly , her heart pounding. “Sir… why did you come?” she asked nervously, lowering her voice as though afraid someone else might hear. Victor gently set Lilly down on her feet before looking at Zara. His expression was calm, but there was something unreadable behind his eyes. “Well,” he began evenly, “I remembered Lilly doesn’t have a father attending today. So I decided to show up.” Zara swallowed. “Please don’t do this because you feel guilty about what happened yesterday,” she said softly. “You don’t owe us anything.” Victor’s jaw tightened slightly. “Fine,” he admitted. “Maybe I do feel bad.” His gaze softened
