Adrian stepped out of the doctor’s room looking pale, though he tried hard to mask it.
“What happened?” Rosey asked at once, with Zara standing close beside her.
“Uh… he’ll be fine,” Adrian said after a brief pause. “That’s what the doctor said.”
Zara studied him quietly. There was something in his eyes something unspoken, carefully hidden but she chose not to press.
“You need to return to the city for work,” Adrian added, his tone suddenly cold. “The trip has been canceled. His relatives are coming to stay with him.”
He went on, almost mechanically, “The bus has already gone back to pick up the rest of the employees.”
