Chapter 8

Jason “Jackson!  Kace will be here soon.  Were you able to get the rest?” Jason asked his cousin.   “Yeah, it's here.  Remember...you're not going to ask me about how I got it and when you find out, you keep your mouth shut.  You understand?” Jason nodded as he accepted the duffle bag of money from him.  “I’ll be back. I need to go check on the two girls I brought with me.” “Why?  You afraid someone is going to get to them before you?”  he smirked.   “No, they work-worked for me,” he corrected.  “They got drunk.” He rolled his eyes as he stood up. “Drunk, huh..” Jackson said standing up.  He hadn't told Jason that he knew who Kace, Mayah and Krista were...or that they had history.  “Well, I can help you track them down,” he said with a grin. “Jackson...they're my employees.  I just need to get them sober and home.  Especially before that asshole comes to collect his money.” “Yeah, sure” he said following Jason out the door and down the steps.   Jason walked over to the couch.  Realizing they were not where he left them, he headed towards the kitchen and found Krista smoking a joint with a couple of girls Jackson invited over.  “Krista, where’s Mayah?”  “I left her on the couch.  I told her to rest until we went home,” she hollered over the loud music. “She’s not there.” he said. Krista began to panic.  “What do you mean?” she said barging past him into the living room.  “I left her right-” she froze. “Oh my god, where did she go?” “Maybe she went to sleep it off in a room.  Stay here just in case she comes back,” he instructed looking around for his cousin.  He wandered down the hall opening closet doors before coming to his study. There's no way she could've made it this far drunk he thought to himself.  He turned to walk away but stopped. It sounded like someone was whispering in the study. “Hey, no one’s allowed in here!” he yelled banging on the door.  Pressing his ear against the door, he listened for a response. “Just go to sleep, I promise it will be over when you wake up.” he heard the voice snicker.   Jason swung the door open.  “Hey! I said no one- Jesus, Mayah?”  His body went cold at the sight in front of him.  “Get off of her now!” he yelled pushing the guy off of her. “Rule number one of a party, wait your turn,” he snarled as he shook Jason off and approached Mayah again. “I mean it!  Don't touch her!” Jason pushed him again, this time with enough force that he landed on his back.  He turned towards Mayah and began to shake her. “Mayah, can you hear me? Mayah...wake up” “Bro, did you not hear what I said?” Jason heard him say before hearing the unmistakable sound of a loaded gun clicking.  “Now, step off.” Jason raised his hands in surrender.  “Look, there are plenty of girls who are willing.  Besides, my cousin Jackson-” “What Jackson don't know won't hurt him.  Now move” he instructed. He walked back towards Mayah who still laid unconscious on the couch.  “Get out or watch,” he said leaning back over her. “Jason, did you find them?” Jackson came into the room and pulled his gun and aimed it at the man leaning over Mayah.  “Are you insane Charley? I told you who was off limits!” If Marco found out about this, he would kill him this time. “He’s with you?”  Jason stammered.    “Relax, I didn't get far.  This boy scout is trying to be a hero.  Besides, she’d never know. She’s out like a light.”  When he realized that Jackson wasn't going to let him keep going, he groaned getting off of her.   “Jason?  Are you in here?  I still can't find Mayah.”  Krista called poking her head through the door.  “Mayah?” she shoved the door open and then stumbled backwards.  She couldn't believe her eyes. Jackson was here in the same room with her  and her unconscious half naked sister. “What did you do?” she screamed running to her. “Wait...you two know each other?”  Jason finally lowered his hands.   “I told you not to ask questions Jason.  Charley, go out and see if Jason’s visitor is here to collect his last payment.”  He walked Jason to the door. “Wait for Charley upstairs.” he instructed. “What about them?”  Jason was beginning to realize he had no clue who his cousin really was or what he did for money. “Don't worry about it.”  He shoved him out the door, locking it behind him.  “God, I’ve been waiting for this day forever,” he snarled advancing towards both girls.  “I’ll make you a deal. I’ll let you walk out of here with her tonight if you leave her in here with me for a little bit.” “No!” she yelled.  She didn't have to use her imagination to know what Jackson was planning.  “Mayah come on, you have to wake up!” With tears streaming down her face she turned to reason with Jackson.  “Marco will kill you if you touch her. Please don't.” she begged but her pleas fell on deaf ears. When Jackson started walking towards them, she began to scream at the top of her lungs. “Now that was a stupid thing to do!” he hissed punching her in the head.  He stood over her as she tried to get up. “You should've accepted the deal,” he said punching her again knocking her out cold.  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kace Kace walked into Jason’s house with a couple of his crew members.  He pulled his phone out to check the time. He had exactly one hour get the girls home.  Following Jason’s directions from his text, he walked up the stairs to the room where he said he could pick up his payment.  “Jason..Its Kace, you in here?” he called before opening the door not waiting for an answer. He walked in and saw a nervous Jason sitting on the corner of the bed.  “You look like you seen a ghost,” he said jokingly. “Where’s this week's payment?” “This is the rest of your money...for everything,” he said with a shaky voice standing up to pull the duffel bag from behind his chair.  “This squares u, right?” “Yeah, if it's all here…” he handed the money to one of his men.  “Jason, relax. You paid your debt. You look like you're gonna be sick.  You should be happy...partying.” When Jason didn't respond, he decided to change the subject.  “So, I have to escort two people home...you know them. Mayah and Krista? You seen them around?  I saw Mayah’s car parked behind yours.” “You know them too?”  Jason felt like he was going to be sick. “Yes, why?  Who else knows them?”  Kace pulled out his phone and dialed Krista’s number.  When she didn't answer, he dialed Mayah’s. “Are they here?  Who else knows them?” “My cousin,” he stammered.  “The one who let me borrow the money to pay you...he was with them when I left.”  He plopped back down on the bed. “Okay, call your cousin.  Ask him where they are in here.  I have to get them home.” He was growing impatient at Jason's elusive answers. “I...I…  I can't.”  He looked at Kace.  “He said he will call me when he’s through…” his voice trailed off.  He couldn't bring himself to finish that sentence. “When he’s through with what?”  He grabbed Jason by the collar of his shirt.  “You have three seconds to tell me where they are,” he spat through clenched teeth.  “One.” he pulled his gun out and put it against his temple. “Two.” He watched Jason flinch at the sound of the click. “Downstairs!  In the study. My cousin is with them downstairs!” “Show me.”  Kace and his men followed Jason downstairs.  He kept a firm grip on the back of his neck. “They- They’re in here.” he stuttered.   Shoving him aside, Kace banged on the door.  “Mayah! Krista! Let's go!” He banged on the door a few more times.  When he didn't get an answer, kicked the door open. “s**t!” he ran over to Krista who laid bound and beaten on the floor.  Mayah was nowhere to be seen. “Krista...Kris! Talk to me…” he pulled the tape off of her mouth. “What the hell happened?” he said pulling out his pocket knife to cut the ropes. “Jackson...It was Jackson” she sobbed.  “He took her! Mayah was right, we shouldn't have come!  She wanted to go home but I wanted to come.”   “Shhhhh, we’ll find her.” he cooed as he pulled her to her feet.  “Take her to my car. If anyone approaches her, shoot them. You… come. here.”  he said pointing to Jason. “Sit.” he ordered as he started going through the room.  “Tell me what happened. And don't lie.”  “My cousin...he was having a party for some promotion.  I invited the girls...they quit today. I figured they’d have fun.”  His heart was racing. “Krista said their dad doesn't let her do anything or party so I said they should come.  I didn't know they would...that he would-” He looked away from Kace.   “Who’s they?”  he replied coldly.  “Charley and my cousin Jackson.  I walked in on Charley trying to ...I can't say it.. I can't.”  he choked. “Say it or I shoot.”  He put the gun up to Jason's shoulder.  “Trying to what?” “r**e her!  He was trying to r**e her!  I’m going to be sick!” He dropped down to the trash can beside the desk and threw up.   “What else?”  Kace put the gun to the back of his head. “Jackson made him leave.  He told Charley to go get me the money and told me to wait upstairs...I didn't know this was going to happen.  I swear!” He shook with fear as he felt Kace press the barrel harder against his skull. “Who is Jackson to you?” “My cousin.” “Ugh!” he yelled.  “Get up. You call him.  Right now!”   Jason pulled his phone from his pocket.  His fingers trembled as he dialed. “It..Its ringing.”  Kace snatched the phone from him and started pacing around the room.  He walked over to the couch, put the phone on speaker and started pulling up the cushions.  When he pulled the last cushion up, the blood in his veins ran cold. There was Mayah’s torn work shirt, name tag and cell phone.   “Hey cousin!  You reall-” “Where is she Jackson?”  interrupted Kace. “Kace...my cousin paid you off.  You shouldn't have his phone.” Jackson said “Where. Is. She?” “Oh, you mean my bosses fiance?  Oh...don't worry. I’m taking real good care of her,” he taunted.  “Put my cousin on the phone.” “Mayah first.”  Kace pulled out his phone.  He typed Roach’s name in the recipient box.   “Look, I did Krista’s old man a favor and left him his kid.  Tell him and that mafia prick to just let her go. She’s where she belongs and is as good as gone.  Now, put Jason on the phone.” ‘Mayah’s missing’ he typed.  ‘Jackson took her.’ He exhaled before hitting send on his cell as he handed Jason his.  He knew that Roach might just kill him this time.   “Jackson, what the hell is going on…”  Jason said looking at Kace. “Why did you take her? Where?” “Jason, I said no questions.  Now...consider debt for your loan from us paid.” he snickered before hanging up on him. “Wait!” he yelled but it was too late.  Jason couldn't help but feel that this was planned out from the beginning.  From the moment he called Jackson to ask him to help pay off his debt. He felt used.  Betrayed by his own cousin. What did I get myself into was all he could think. I’m as good as dead.
