Chapter 14

1594 Words
Mayah It seemed like it took an eternity to arrive at Adriano’s estate even though she slept the whole way.  She followed Adriano through the house holding his hand tightly as they walked through the house with Roach and Kace close behind.   “Princess-”  he began before Krista’s squealed running down the steps. “Mayah!  Oh my god!  You're home!”  she cried as pulled her into a tight hug.  “I’m so sorry!” “Krista please don't cry,” she sobbed to her sister.   Both girls held each other for a good while before Roach cleared his throat.  “Girls… Krista, maybe you can take Mayah upstairs and get her a change of clothes.”  He gestured to the wedding dress she still had on. They broke apart reluctantly before heading up the stairs.  Mayah quietly followed her into one of Adriano’s many guest rooms.  Once they were in Krista’s guest room there was a long pregnant pause before Krista spoke. “Mayah...I need to apologize to you.  I was really selfish by making you go to that party and it…” she fell silent as a tear slid down her cheek. “Krista, stop.  You don't need to apologize for anything.  It's not your fault.” She hugged her again.  “I know what you did to protect me, and I’m sorry that Jackson forced you to do that,” she whispered. “Mayah, Jackson didn't force me…”  her voice trailed off. “He said he made you chose...Krista, that's force.” “Mayah, I did it because I couldn't let him do that to you.  I couldn't let him touch you. I had to protect my little sister.”  She pulled out of the hug still holding her hands. “Let's get you changed.  Dad said that he was going to have a bonfire with your wedding dress once Adriano crashed the wedding.” As Krista laid down on her bed, Mayah stood up and headed to Krista's bathroom shedding layers of clothes with each step she took.  Which each layer she pulled off she began to frantically pull at the fabric not realizing that she had started crying.  “Mayah, are you crying?”  asked Krista. When she didn't answer she sat up on the bed and gasped.  “Oh my god Mayah, what happened to your back?” she rushed across the room to her sister. Mayah flinched as Krista touched her shoulder.  “It's not as bad as it looks anymore,” she joked as Krista helped her out of the rest of her wedding attire.  She knew that Krista already felt guilty enough as it was and she didn't want to add to it. “I’m gonna get in the shower...see you in a few.”   She slid into the bathroom and closed the door.  Once she turned on the shower as hot as the temperature would go, she stepped in and broke into uncontrollable sobs as the water cascaded down her body.    She scrubbed her body raw until she was numb lost in her thoughts until there was a knock at the door.   “Mayah?” Krista called through the door.  “Mayah, you've been in there for a while. Are you okay? “I’m fine.” she said as she pulled on her pajamas opening the door to see her worried sister waiting.   “Good.  Dad wants to order Chinese.” “I’m really tired.  I’m going to skip dinner.  See you tomorrow morning for breakfast?” Krista nodded as Mayah headed out of the room down the hall to her own.  She was emotionally and physically exhausted. Mayah crawled under the covers on the bed.  She laid looking at the ceiling. It wasn't long before Mayah fell into a deep sleep. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marco “Can anyone explain to me how my bride managed to run away during the wedding?  My wedding? With another man?” He furiously paced back and forth in the dining hall of his estate waiting for an answer.  “You all had one job and that was to make sure nothing went wrong!”   “Boss, they ambushed us.  They took out a lot of the others by the time we realize-” Marco grabbed the guard by the throat pushing him back into a wall.  “My fiance ran off in the arms of another man! No one should've gotten that close!”  He released the young guard leaving him gasping for air. “What do you know about the attack?” Jackson cleared his throat.  “The security cameras showed the one that grabbed her sneaking in behind a few of your invited guests.  They had sharpshooters and somehow managed to get explosives rigged for their escape.” “Okay, so who grabbed her and set the explosives?” “That's the problem...the security footage shuts off from midnight security rounds to the six o'clock.  That means you have a mole or someone hacked your system.” Jackson took a cautious step back from Marco knowing the next thing out of his mouth would only further upset him.  “As for who grabbed her, the footage is too blurry but my money is on that pretty boy Adriano. That's the only logical person aside from her adoptive father who would come and snatch her.  She was too scared to run away on her own.” “But she still ran!”  Marco pulled out his phone.  He wasn't going to let her get away from him that easy. “Hey boss...no disrespect but what's so special about her that you keep going through all this trouble for her? I know that you like that she’s a virgin but you could have any other virgin girl you want without having to beat them into staying.” Marco took a threatening step towards Jackson.  “If I wanted any other virgin girl, I would have one!” Jackson quickly put his hands up in surrender.  “I didn't mean no disrespect....” “Find out who has her.  Find out where she is.” He didn't give anyone a chance to respond.  He quickly turned on his heel and headed to his room. Once inside, he let out a yell of frustration before grabbing a chair in his room and hurling it across the room.  It wasn't supposed to be like this, he thought to himself. He was supposed to be with Mayah on their honeymoon right now, not tracking her down again. He sat on his bed and stared at his semi-destroyed room.  “Carino, why did you have to grow up to be like your mother and choose someone else?” he said out loud to himself remembering the same attraction he had for Mayah’s mother. He recalled how he stood by and watched his best friend and Mayah’s father marry the love of his life and start a family knowing that they were in love with the same woman.   **flashback** “Chris, you knew I loved her and you married her anyway!  But I let it slide and then you shut me out of the company?   That's okay though...you did me a favor. ” Marco snickered as he backhanded Mayah’s father. “Marco, do what you want to me...take the whole business...I don't care.  Just let her and Mayah go. If you love her, you won't touch her again.” Mayah’s father said. “That's where you're wrong amigo...I touched her because I loved her and she felt as good as she tasted.”  He walked over to Mayah’s mother and ran his knuckles over her chin making her whimper. “You weren't here for the encore but you’ll have a front row seat to the grand finally.”  “Bastard!  Touch her again and I’ll kill you!”  He struggled against his restraints.   “Wrong...you're going to listen to her beg while you watch me do more than touch her… then your going to watch me walk away with my replacement bride...Mayah, as you both bleed to death.  You stole someone I loved so it's only fair that I return the favor.” He leaned down to Mayah’s mother close enough that their noses were almost touching “Don't do this to my daughter.  She’s just a little girl...Please, I’m begging you!”  Mayah’s mother begged. She squeezed her eyes shut shuddering in disgust as she tried to turn away when Marco kissed her neck. “You see Chris?  She’s begging already.”  He gripped her face forcefully turning her face back to him.  “Oh, mi carino...you chose wrong. You should've chose me! Not Chris!” “No, don't do this please..I’m begging you.”  she begged again. “I’ll do anything you want.  Just leave Mayah-”  “Shhhhhh, don't worry.  She won't be a little girl forever.”  He let go of her face and raised her hands above her head.  “Now, say your goodbyes to each other because you don't have a lot of time…” **End of Flashback** “Say your goodbyes to each other because you don't have a lot of time…Carino, I’m coming for you.”
