“One”   Ishan's POV What a dream. It's been thirteen years since my dad died and I still see his face in my sleep saying goodbye for the last time. I wanted to dream of him in another scenario. Like maybe him sending me to my kindergarten with a smile on his face. Like him cooking for me and mom and he would pick me up and let me help in the kitchen. Like him laughing with my mom as they watch a movie I didn't quite understand. So many other memories yet I only dream of the saddest one. I feel like crap every time I wake up from the same dream. I won't tell my mother because I don't want him to worry. He misses him terribly and I feel my heart sink whenever I hear him cry alone. He doesn't know that I know. Darn it. It's a school day and I need to get up and face my remaining months in high school. It's like hell in there. A boring hell. I go to Khumpai Integrated School. It has primary to high school in it. It's an institution for rich kids. So yes, a hell. A boring hell. My godfather Alexander Vongvanich sponsors my education. And he wanted the best for me. I am very grateful. My mom is too. He never made us feel indebted. If anything my mom got tired of him thanking us for accepting his offer to live in this apartment building we are in. My mom is an omega. His name is Arthur Rakthum. He was married to my now deceased father, Mekhin Rakthum. My father passed away thirteen years ago from a gunshot wound after a couple of kidnappers resisted arrest in one of his jobs. My father is a hero. He saved a baby from his abductors. He saved the mother as well. This baby is Boon Vongvanich. My godfather's youngest son of three. My mother and I never resented the fact that the head of our family met his end saving an innocent child. We have always been proud of him. He loved his job. And we love him. We always will. So, who am I? My name is Ishan Rakthum. Almost eighteen years old senior high school student. Omega. I don't go around telling people that. More than a few think I am an alpha. Given my boyish looks, my hot headedness, my smarts, and my athletic abilities. People also think I am a Vongvanich illegitimate child. The Vongvanichs come from a very long line of alpha bloodline. I do of course ignore the people's false assumptions. I have better things to waste my saliva on. Like teaching little kids at the local preschool my mother works at part time. His main job is as an administrator of the building we live in. Kids are cute. And fun. I always wanted to have a little brother or sister but that didn't happen. I am lucky that my mom is a teacher. I get to assist her once in a while. "You done thinking deeply while getting ready, Ishi?" My mother's head peeked at my door as I finished buttoning up my white shirt.  I was getting ready actually. And now I am done. Woopie! Note the sarcasm. Because yes. I am not excited to go to school. "Yes, mom. I am done." I picked up my backpack before kissing my mother good morning and we headed to the kitchen. "Don't fake a smile early in the morning. I know my cooking still sucks." My mom is pouty after I acted like I liked his eggplant omelet. It's salty. I chuckled instead of responding. Better not say anything if it's a lie just to make him feel better. "Seriously. You-- "Mom." I stopped his fork pointing at me. "Have you received a mail from Kunthara yet?" I took the college entrance exam last August. The results should be released soon. "Hm? I got mails this morning but nothing from that university yet. Don't worry about it. I know you'll pass, Ishi." He went back to eating. So did I. "You have too much confidence on me, mom." "I'm your mother. I know you the most. And besides. You got your father's brains." Ah. Darn it. Why did I have to question his confidence in me. Now it touched the subject that makes us both sad. My dad. "Mom..." I reached for his hand on top of our dining table. He looked at me with sad eyes. He gave me a wistful smile and made me resume my breakfast. "It's fine, Ishi. I'll be fine." I got up and hugged my mother. After all these years, he still didn't find himself another man to love. My father was the one and only for him. He can be bonded with another alpha but he chose to drown himself with his responsibilities of me. And his work. He never dated ever since. "I love you, mom." "I love you too, son." *** The rest of my morning was spent going to school and sitting my ass down in my classes. My heat is coming soon. The suppressants I got from my doctor seemed to be very good. Ever since I got my heat when I was 16, I never had a problem with alpha sniffing my pheromones. I had been invisible. Which is good since this school has a lot of young, hungry alpha kids of the richest family in Bangkok City. And s*x isn't a taboo subject among students. It's been introduced since first year of middle school. I have an alpha friend as well but he is the most down to earth person I know. His name is Karn Abuwan. And unlike the other alpha kids, Karn isn't arrogant, or domineering. He is humble and soft hearted. Some of our classmates even ship us. Two perfect alphas. A very nice combination. If they only knew. * "Ishi, wanna join the basketball practice later?" Karn asked me after our Physics class. This is our last lesson for the day. "Yeah. Sure. What time?" I picked my stiff and we headed to our lockers. "Four thirty. We have meeting with the student council so I had to push it back." Karn is our student council secretary and basketball captain. Bradley Vongvanich is the president of the student body. We call him Mok. "Ugh! Why did you drag me into that? A meeting?" I groaned and complained. I didn't wanna be the effing treasurer of the student council. Karn pinched my cheek after putting his books back and closing his locker. "Let's go."           "Wohoo! We are so gonna win this tournament!" One of our teammates seemed to be so happy after the exhausting basketball practice. "Well, we have Ishan. There's nothing to worry about." Karn said to him. "Right, Ishi?" I shrugged. "You're in it, too." "But you're faster— Ishi? Ishi, you’re in heat—" Karn pulled me from the rest of our teammates and into the side of the gym. "Your scent is leaking." He has his nose covered by a special handkerchief. Who's quicker now? Effing f**k! I'm sweating too much. "I'm gonna go shower first." "Good idea. Now, go!" I sprinted towards our gym shower. I know Karn would stall our teammates until he is sure I'm done. Or better, he would invite them to his house which is closer to the school. He's a really good friend. He is the only one who knows I am an omega. And he had helped me countless times. Just like this one. I was entering a shower stall when I smelled something really good. So nostalgic. The fresh morning smell of the magic forest, Chiang Mai. My hometown. I felt my heartbeat race. Odd. Shia! My heat is here! And it’s too strong. Darn it! And the scent...it's making me lose my senses. s**t. I'm screwed. I was lost in the scent and my arousal when a pair of arms caught me from falling into the tiled floor. "W-who are—                       "My omega. I found you." ______________________________________________
