Dream State

“Good Morning, Sweetie,” my mom said, her voice sounds so happy.  “Good morning, mom. Whatcha makin’ for breakfast today?” I responded as I sat down at the island in the kitchen.  “Nothing much, only your favorite foods, for my favorite girl.” my mom said as she handed me a plate of food.  “I’m your only girl! So we have French Toast and bacon and eggs! Merci mère.” I exclaimed, excited to eat food with my parents.  “Pas de problème, mon petit (No problem, my little one),” my mom expressed while she made more plates for herself and my dad.  “Where is dad?” I asked, curious about my dad’s whereabouts.   “He’s at the packhouse. Uncle Levi needed to speak to him. He should be back soon,” she responded, her voice sounded nervous. Why was she nervous?  “Okey-dokey,” I said as I dived into the breakfast mom perfectly made. I finished my food in five minutes. I always loved mom’s cooking. “I’m going back to my room to get ready to see Harlequin,” I said as I ran-up to my room and changed clothes. I ran to Harlequin’s house, about 10 minutes away. He was already outside waiting for me.  I ran to him and gave him a big hug. “Harlequin, I missed you. Why didn't you come over? Mommy made breakfast,” I mentioned.  “Because my mommy made me breakfast too.” “She’s home,” I stated, “Your mom is the best. Move,” I say, pushing him to the side so that I can go into his house.  “Wait, Fiya,” He yells.  I walk into the house anyways and see his mom and dad having s*x. I ran out of the house, screaming, “Ewe. So disgusting.”  “Why did you scar me like that,” I yelled at him.  “I. I  tried to warn you, but you are a very ‘independent’ person,” He spluttered, putting air quotes when he said independent.  “Let’s try to forget about it. What do you wanna do?” I asked.  “Umm, what about we go to the packhouse and play with the others,” he suggested. I nodded my head, and we raced to the packhouse. I won, of course.  We had fun playing with tag, hopscotch, twister, and other board games. We ran back to our houses and got our swimming suits, and so we could play pool games.  We played tag on our way back. But we play it a bit differently. If the person who is it catches you, you have to promise to do one thing.  I was it today. I caught him. I made him play a prank on his parents.  This was a good day.  September 14th, 2005 Okami Founders Day  Were all headed to the packhouse. It was a beautiful autumn day—a perfect day for celebrating our pack. The wind felt perfect on my skin. We walked to the packhouse instead of driving like we used to, the weather felt great, and the sun was shining. We used this time to catch up. “Dad, what have you been up to? I feel like I haven’t seen you in such a long time.” I said.  Mom and dad shared a worried look. I thought I wouldn’t notice, but I did.  “I miss you too, sweetie, but it has only been a couple of days. Uncle Levi just needed some help with things in the pack,” he replied. Ten minutes into our twenty-minute walk, we heard a loud growl pierce through our ears, startling us.   My mom went into protective mode. My dad was looking around to see where the sound came from.  Dad tried to mindlink my uncle but never got an answer. He knew something was wrong. “Honey, try and mindlink your brother.” “she quickly tried, but the connection seemed closed off. She whispered to herself, “the connection is never closed.” Out of nowhere, we saw these five wolves. These wolves had grey fur. It looked so rough as if you were to run your hands through it, your hands would get caught in the tangles and naps. Their eyes were red. My mom and dad always said if their eyes are red, they are most likely rogues.  They smelled like rotten eggs, and that's a sure sign of being a rogue. It seemed like they were after someone by the way they were circling us. They were staring at me. Why?  My mom shifted into her wolf. Her wolf was beautiful. She had midnight-blue fur and purple eyes and was small in stature but powerful. But her eyes looked like they could see into anyone’s soul. Then my dad shifted. His wolf black and huge in stature. He had Alpha Blood in him, so he was already very powerful. His eyes were chocolate brown like himself.  “Get out of here NOW!” dad growled at me through mindlink as the wolves were circling us.  Soon as I tried to run away, two others appeared in human form, and I was being dragged out of the circle and separated from my mom and dad. I yell out for them to get me.  I saw my parents trying to fight, trying to protect me. I was crying so hard. The two people kept dragging me away from them. My tears blinded me.  Soon I heard whimpers and growls from my parents. I knew they were fighting the wolves, but that’s it.  I heard a loud howl come from my mom and dad. Then nothing.  Suddenly I heard footsteps coming closer to where the two people had taken me. I looked up to see if they were my parents, but they weren’t.  I screamed and screamed. I felt the arms that once were dragging me off of me. I continue to scream, not knowing what to do. I stayed in the middle of my area, my knees to my chest, crying and screaming. Not knowing. Not being able to console myself.  “Hey, Safiya! Wake up!”
