Chapter One Belkesia Nightmare The sun scorched through the clouds, birds sang as they flew and vehicles drove past Adeline King. This was nothing to her as she looked at the flowers in her hands. She held it tightly, signifying how important it was to her. As she walked towards the King's mansion, she smiled repeatedly and giggled non stop. “Adeline”, she heard someone call her. “Hi Mrs. Bakers”, she smiled greeting her neighbor. Mrs. Bakers who smiled back at her seemingly having something to say to her but held back. Mrs. Bakers watched Adeline as she walked past her. “oh! What a sweet girl”, Mrs. Bakers sighed as she watched Adeline entering the King’s mansion. Adeline king giggled once more as she thought of Aiden’s surprised expression when he finally sees her surprise for him. “momma, papa”, She called out as she stepped into the house but was stunned by what she saw. “Adeline baby”, Mrs. King stood up from the couch and held her hands. “you are finally back”, said Mrs. King leading Adeline to the couch. Adeline King sat on the couch and opposite her was Madeleine King and Aiden Smith cuddling up intimately. Adeline looked around, confused by the situation before her. Her father, Timor King was focused on the business papers before him whilst her mother Beatrice King looked at Adeline carefully. “oh! I know”, thought Adeline King as she watched the situation before her. She was hurt but she lacked words to express her emotions. She looked at her family’s expression once more as she stood up. Adeline King was invisible as nobody cared how she felt. Perhaps only her mother cared while her father had only cared about the benefits which both Adeline and Madeleine’s marriages could bring to his business. However at this point, Adeline realized how cruel her family could be. She finally realized what Aiden’s repeated excuses was all about. For months, She thought she made a mistake which had upset him and had several sleepless nights. However, at this moment she discovered how greed could destroy beautiful things. Adeline was finally at her threshold. She looked around the mansion, sighing in excitement as she finally noticed an expensive vase. She took steps forward and finally remembered, that this was her father’s most beloved vase and his favourite antique. “Bam bam bam”, this was the sound the King’s family heard that finally got their attention. “Aaahh!!” Mrs. King shrieked hiding behind her husband when she saw this. “Adeline darling, we can discuss this” Mrs. King said trying to persuade Adeline. Nonetheless, she was in a different world as she held the golf club and destroyed everything on sight. Timor King trembled as he saw his precious antiques been destroyed. He pushed Mrs. King away and held his precious broken babies. “ADELINE KING”, Mr. Timor called his youngest daughter who just turned around and smiled. Her smile was dreadful to him and he saw somebody else in her. Suddenly, he recalled the shaman’s prophecy when Adeline was a little girl, “she will grow up to destroy her family”. Timor King had recalled this and was finally scared. “FATHER”, Madeleine screamed finally getting his attention and he gasped in surprise as he looked at his eldest daughter whom Adeline held by the throat. Mr. Timor looked at the scene before him surprised. He never knew Adeline had so much strength in her. His two daughters were beautiful. Timor king had four children. Jason king who was the eldest child and son was married with two children, Alexander King and Alexandra King. Madeleine King was his eldest daughter and second child who was very beautiful. Madeleine had blonde hair, hazel eyes, thick brows and peach blossom full lips. Madeline worked in her father’s company and was an obedient child. She was her father’s favourite daughter and always knew how to get what she wanted. Adeline King was the third child and youngest daughter. She was unique as she was never loved in her family except her mother who loved her dearly. As a child, it was prophesied that the King’s downfall will be caused by Adeline and her life changed since that day. Her father who loved her dearly looked at her with contempt and her mother who always played with her, played with her less and less. Her sister Madeleine loved her in public and bullied her in private. Her brother, Jason was never at home so he never knew of her suffering but Adeline could recall that Jason was the only one who truly cared for her in the king’s despite the shaman’s prophecy and their fathers warning, and the youngest, Alan King was a rebellious one. “Adeline, let go of your sister”, her father said trembling. “oh! Okay”, she replied, releasing her strength on Madeleine who was thrown aside. “Baby, we can discuss this”, her mum said persuading Adeline. Adeline King smiled. “oh momma” She sighed. Her mother was too good to be married to her father and she was too righteous to be manipulated repeatedly by this family. “Tell me momma, was I cursed”, Adeline asked sobbing. She was tired. She knew her sister was her father’s favourite and she was never loved but she hoped that maybe, perhaps, the story would be different. Aiden was her hope and joy and now this joy was being stolen from her. Beatrice cried silently when she heard her daughter’s question. “no baby, you were just unfortunate”, she said sobbing looking at her youngest daughter. People say Madeline was the most beautiful King but they were wrong. Unlike Madeleine’s beauty which was seductive, Adeline’s beauty was charming and calming to the eyes. Adeline king had a brunette hair, blue eyes, a high bridged nose, and a moist plumping lip. Her lips were always red as though they were painted. She looked nothing like the King’s which was why her dad never liked her. She was unique as a child as she could remember numbers and alphabet from ten months. Beatrice King knew that Adeline never belonged to the King's but that was the only way available to protect her and perhaps, this was why she approved of Madeleine stealing her youngest daughter's boyfriend. However, it seemed her decision was wrong as she now regretted it looking at her youngest daughter’s hurt expression.
