Time flew by until Ethan’s phone rang and he stood up. Adeline watched him leave the café and few minutes later, she finished her blue mountain tea and left. Adeline stood outside the café as she watched snow fall and sighed. “It really snows early in Urosayiia’a”, she said watching the falling snow on her hands. She continued looking at the snow without realizing her chauffeur. “Miss King” he called her as he knew she hated being called ‘Young miss’. “Oh! Hi Sam” Adeline smiled to Sam who opened an umbrella before leading her to the car. The car drove off immediately she entered revealing another car which was parked across the street. Ethan Luo had a thoughtful expression on his face as he remembered the scene he witnessed. He could recollected her innocent smile and her innocent expression. All of which reminded him of his aunty, Kelly Yang. Although Kelly Yang barely lived in the Luo family, Adeline’s smile was just like hers. They both had the same fierce expression when angry and cute expression when happy. The Luo family was a jungle of wolves and he wondered if Adeline could face the wolves In his family. Although he would protect her, there was no guarantee that his eyes will always be focused on her without any distractions. As he thought of this, he looked at several images before him, one of which was Adeline holding the shred of broken vase and facing the king family. Another one was of Jason King who was in special forces and rarely available. “Drive”, Ethan Luo said as he pondered deeply. Luo's assistant looked at his boss and decided to raise the partition when he met his boss’s eyes. As he drove, the city drew darker and silent, perhaps due to the early snow. However, this couldn’t be compared to the gloomy atmosphere in the Luo mansion. There were several cars parked outside the Luo Mansion and all of which were all seven figures. They were enough to pay Luo’s assistant's annual salary for years and would still be more than enough. As he parked the car at the spot designated for his young master and called the man sitting at the back. Ethan Luo grunted in approval and stepped out of the car. His long legs walked handsomely on the snow and his assistant could admit that his boss was good for the runway. As Ethan stepped into the mansion, everyone looked at him. Yet, everyone of the Luo's had a unique expression on their face. “finally, we can eat”, his second uncle, Philip Luo said mockingly. Ethan Luo ignored him as he walked towards his grandfather, Henry Luo. Henry Luo smiled at the grandson he was pleased with. His Children were all failures but this grandson pleased him greatly. “good good” Henry Luo said heartily as he stood up and Ethan assisted him to the dinning hall. All of the Luos followed, each with their peculiar expression. Regardless, the most peculiar was Philip Luo’s expression as he was highly displeased with his father’s favouritism towards his nephew and what made him very upset was his father’s decision to appoint Ethan Luo as the next patriarch of the Luo family. Conversely, this was subject to a condition, which is Ethan Luo marrying the last descendant of the Yang which was Adeline King. The dinning table was set and everybody according to their position. Shockingly, the hall became silent when Philip Luo ran towards the dining hall and sat on Ethan’s seat. Everyone had a cringe expression on as they waited for Ethan’s reaction. Nevertheless, they were disappointed as Ethan assisted Henry Luo down the stairs and ignored their hilarious expression. “Look at him pretending to be Jesus Christ”, his second aunt, Camila Luo snickered causing her daughter, Emily Luo to smile. Ethan ignored all the mockery and finally arrived at the dining hall. Everybody sat according to their position except Ethan Luo who stood besides his grandfather. Henry Luo amazed by his grandson’s care enjoyed the feeling of being cared for until he realized the atmosphere was tensed and suddenly dropped the chopsticks in his hands. He looked at his environment again and noticed the seat on the right was occupied by the wrong person. “Philip”, his father called out and everyone of the Luo could hear the anger from his voice. “father”, Philip said calmly cutting the steak before him. Henry Luo incredulously watched his son’s reaction and knew that this son of his was hopeless. He smiled in amusement and annoyance as he picked up the chopsticks he dropped and held it elegantly. He looked at his son once more and threw it at him. “Arrghh”, Philip screamed clutching his hands in annoyance. Despite Henry Luo being old, he was healthy so the force and strength from the chopsticks was enough to pierce through Philip’s skin. “father, grandfather”, Camila and Emily screamed as they ran towards Philip. They held his hands and watched as blood oozed out. It was pitiful watching Philip Luo scream and the whole dinning hall had stench of blood. However, Ethan and Henry Luo remained unbothered by this as grand father Henry ate with new chopsticks as Ethan continued placing food in his bowl. “Call Dr. Peters”, Camila screamed when Philip finally fainted. The whole dinning was eerie except the chewing sound coming from Henry Luo. It frightened everyone except Ethan. Although they knew Henry Luo was ruthless, they’ve forgotten about this after several years of watching him act docile except the day he declared the seven years old Ethan Luo as the patriarch. “You see Ethan, this is how you shut a barking dog. A good dog does not block the way of his master”, he said chewing his steak in relish. Everyone who heard this except Ethan Luo gasped in astonishment as to what this old man said about his son. “such a heartless beast”, they all thought.
