The man’s eyes darkened and a low growl sounded from his throat. He still had ahold of my hair and my scalp stung from his grasp. Refusing to show any sign of weakness, I held my smirk.
“You f*****g with me kid?” he asked, clearly concerned.
“Nope.” I said. “I’m Ember. The second-born. Looks like you screwed up.” He finally released my hair and stepped backwards, looking at me.
“You’re lying.” He shook his head. “I seen the pictures of Eden. And you look just like her.” Was this guy for real? Not being able to help myself, I burst out laughing.
