As if in sync, her eyes widened just as his did. She obviously had been expecting anything but this request, and he wondered whether it was a wise or stupid move that he'd decided to catch her off guard. He stayed silent, studying her, waiting for an answer. Her silence was killing him.
Thirty seconds later, Kris's heart was careening violently against his chest when she still hadn't said anything.
