Dryath had the fugitive in his grasp. As pain exploded through his face, all he could think about Captain Ardin’s face. He couldn’t go in and explain he’d let the escapee get away because he’d punched Dryath in the face. He’d be lucky if all Ardin did was shoot him. And if Dryath explained that Genthry managed to punch him because Dryath had been distracted by Genthry’s extraordinary beauty…well. He didn’t let the pain in his jaw distract him. He took off running after his target, leaving the lowlife helping Genthry in the dust behind him. If any of the local soldiers caught sight of the ruckus and wanted to join in and help, more power to them. The greasy human probably had a rap sheet a mile long, if he was willing to help a filthy slave like Genthry. He wasn’t likely to be a murderer
