Chapter 4

"You're safe? Thank goodness," said a man named Marvin, who had just stepped in hurriedly. He let out a sigh of relief upon finding Dennis sitting casually on the living room sofa. "Forgive me. Last night I lost track of you after several cars of Dave's men intercepted my vehicle and our guards. After managing to take them down, the others and I immediately went looking for you, but we only found your car left behind." Dennis didn't answer. His mind was still wandering to the series of events from last night, when he spent a long night with a woman. For some reason, that image couldn't disappear from his mind at all. He merely glanced briefly at Marvin and several subordinates standing tall behind the man before finally turning his face away, seemingly indifferent. "Why are you staying silent? Did you take a lot of hits last night?" Marvin stepped closer. His gaze then fell on Dennis's body, which was covered in bruises and scratches. "I have called the best medical team, and they are on their way here. I will annihilate Dave and those Black Hand rats this very day as payback for—" "Quiet," Dennis cut in sharply while raising one hand, gesturing for Marvin to shut his mouth. Marvin instantly fell silent, halting his sentence. His face, which a few minutes ago looked relieved, slowly tensed up seeing Dennis's expression turn serious. If his master was acting like this, there must be a much more crucial problem. He swallowed hard, realizing that the leader was in an unreadable mood. His aura radiated so coldly, far sharper than any dagger, even surpassing the aura of the deadliest enemy he had ever faced. Dennis slowly stood up. He ignored the piercing pain in his solar plexus from last night's fight. "I don't care about that bastard named Dave or the Black Hand for now," Dennis said in a flat and cold tone. "There is something else far more important." Marvin instantly furrowed his brow. "Something more important? Ah, you mean... our armory? Don't worry, everything is still safely under control. As a precautionary measure, I've ordered our men to move the goods to a much more secret location." Dennis scoffed cynically. He stepped slowly toward the large glass window, staring sharply outside. "Not that!" "No? Then what?" Marvin asked, the crease on his forehead deepening. "Find a woman," Dennis commanded. "A woman?" Marvin was greatly stunned. He turned his head, exchanging glances with the other subordinates. In all his years of serving Dennis, not once had The Cold Saint ordered the search for a woman, especially right after an incident that nearly took his life. "Who is she? Is she looking for trouble with you? Is she Dave's underling? A threat to us? What exactly has she done? Tell me, who is this woman? I will hunt her down, finish her off, and bring her corpse before you!" Hearing that babble, the glint in Dennis's eyes instantly sharpened. He glared at Marvin with an icy gaze that made the man and all his subordinates reflexively bow their heads. "Bring her to me alive, and do not let her get hurt even a little bit! If a single strand of her hair falls or her skin is scratched, you and all your men will die by my hands!" Dennis growled, suppressing his anger. "F-forgive me. I thought she was our enemy. If she's not an enemy, then who is she really?" Dennis slipped both hands into his pants pockets. "She is my savior angel. She's the one who pulled me from the bottom of the river last night when I threw myself off the bridge. And she is also the one who brought me back to this place." Dennis fell silent for a moment. The memory of the hot caresses and Aletta's gentle touches last night danced in his eyes again, disturbing his sanity. "Pulled you from the river?" Marvin looked at Dennis in disbelief. "You... intentionally threw yourself off the bridge into the river last night?" he asked again. "Yes!" Marvin was even more startled. "I didn't hear wrong, did I? Then, how is your condition now? Are you really okay?" "As you can see now, I am still alive thanks to that woman! So, look for her until you find her and bring her to me!" Dennis turned back around. His jaw tightened with a gaze that grew increasingly sharp and deadly. "Deploy all the resources we have. Check every CCTV footage along the road leading to this residence. I want her complete identity, her place of residence, her background, everything!" "But... are you sure? The Black Hand might still be watching our movements. Your safety is the main priority right now. What if we focus on the enemy first, and only after that we look for—" "Do I look like I'm asking for your advice, Marvin?" Dennis cut in cynically. He took a step forward, making Marvin immediately feel the thick, murderous aura exuding from the body of his master and colleague. "Find that woman, or you all will bear the consequences. As for the Black Hand, I will take care of them myself!" Marvin shuddered in horror. He knew very well that Dennis never played around with his threats. The figure dubbed The Cold Saint could be a sturdy protective shield, but on the other hand, he could also turn into the most bloodthirsty devil if his orders were ignored. "Alright. I will immediately order our men to track her down," Marvin answered obediently. He then signaled to his subordinates to move out at once. "One more thing," Dennis stopped him, right before Marvin walked away. Marvin stopped in his tracks and turned. "What is it?" "Make sure you don't hurt her in the slightest. Like I said, if I see even one scratch on her skin and it's because of you... I myself will skin you all alive." Marvin nodded stiffly. He hurried out of the room and started shouting instructions to all his subordinates. "Come on, move!" They hurried off, leaving Dennis's luxurious residence. After the atmosphere returned to silence, Dennis walked back to his room. He grabbed a glass of whiskey from the table, sipped it slowly, and then stared at his reflection in the large mirror. Red marks on his neck and chest, traces of the heated struggle Aletta gave him last night, were still imprinted so clearly. His gaze then shifted to the crumpled bed sheets. There was a bloodstain there, a piece of evidence signifying that the woman who spent the night with him was still pure, having never been touched by any man before. He walked over to the bed, picked up Aletta's still half-wet clothes from the floor, and inhaled the sweet scent of the woman's body that lingered heavily on the fabric. A faint smirk slowly formed at the corner of his lips. "You think you can just run away like that after stealing my shirt, Little Angel?" Dennis murmured hoarsely. He realized that one of his shirts in the closet was missing, and incidentally, the shirt Aletta ran off with was his favorite. "I will not let you go, especially after you managed to drive me crazy in just one night. In this world, no one can hide from me. Let alone someone who has robbed me of my sanity." Dennis closed his eyes, once again soaking in the intoxicating scent from Aletta's clothes. He didn't just want his shirt back, but he also wanted the thief in her entirety. "You will return to my embrace. Don't expect you can just leave me like that after creating this madness."
