Chapter 3 - Security and Invitations

IRENA "Saturday we will be having our Luna Ceremony," Anthony says, as I sit inspecting at my nails, internally rolling my eyes at him. "Because of that we will have a slightly different rota for the guards on Saturday, as most of you will be at the Ceremony. There will be double pay as an incentive for Saturday, on any hours you do. Who would like to work Saturday?" My hand shoots up, as well as roughly thirty others. I would rather claw my own eyes out than watch that bitches Luna Ceremony. "Perfect, I think that should cover it," Anthony says, making a note of the names. "I will discuss where you will be stationed on Saturday morning with you. Everyone will have their regular rota still, apart from the 8 hours covering the Luna Ceremony, between 6pm to 2am. I hope you all have a good day, if I don't see you before I will see you all at dinner tonight." Anthony dismisses us and I shoot out of my seat, heading out the door. My shift wasn't due to start until 6pm, and I wanted to go and train in the gym for a while. I grab a bottle of Powerade from my room, before heading to the gym on the guards floor. I had to figure out a way to get down to the dungeons. I had heard rumour of them for years, but I assume they are on a need to know basis. Sam and Dan work the same shifts down there, so I needed to work my way into both of their good graces. Dan was already eating out of the palm of my hand, but Sam still wasn't 100% certain on me. I couldn't try it on with Sam, not if I wanted to keep Dan sweet... but maybe I could try and work on them together? The spark of an idea forms in my head as I start to power up the treadmill. I have always been able to use my body to get what I want, barring Ama at least. Getting what I want was going to take some serious sacrifices on my part. This rogue in the dungeon has possible connections to the Hunters that have been terrorising the Pack's around Europe, and I needed those connections. I might have to seduce both Sam and Dan at the same time. The thought makes me retch in my mouth, f*****g one man is stomach churning enough, but sacrifices would have to be made. If this gets me down into the dungeon, close enough to the rogue to talk to him before he is executed... Getting close to Sam and Dan was a sacrifice I was willing to make. AMARIS I head out of the bedroom, making sure Sol is safe and tucked into bed. I didn't like leaving her, but she had woken up and was eating in bed. If I did what I needed to do now, I would be free to spend time with her for the rest of the day. I walk into my office, sitting down in my chair and grabbing my phone, dialling the number for Richard Morgan, who thankfully answered on the third ring. "Richard! How are you today? I trust the flight went smoothly?" I say, leaning back in my chair. "Amaris, good to hear from you. Yes, it did, although it was ever so slightly subdued." "Yes, I can imagine it was," I reply. "Well. The reason for my call is first and foremost, Sol and I would like to extend our invitation to you to attend her Luna Ceremony on Saturday. I am aware that it is quite a way to travel, we won't be offended if you cannot make it, as it is quite short notice." "I would love to attend, Amaris. I have met her parents and Pack in the past, and it would be lovely seeing her become a Luna, officially." "Perfect! We will arrange a room for you within the castle for the evening," I say, smiling. "The last, but by no means least reason for my call is the rogue in my dungeons. As you are aware, he was intercepted attempting to assault Sol, when she was underage, before we had officially met. He is actually a previous Pack Member of the Wastwater Pack from the Lake District, and he helped the Hunters orchestrate their own attack on The Blood Moon Pack, and also possibly their attack of Wastwater. He is alive, barely, in my dungeons. I was waiting for confirmation of her execution order from the Council, they wanted to wait until the AAM to see if we could wrangle any more information from him. Is this still something you would like to do?" "I won't be able to stay long this weekend, whereas I have blocked out the entire AAM in my diary. I would like to talk to him myself, he may recognise and that could help get more information out of him, but I won't have time this Saturday. The crimes he has committed has signed the warrant for his execution, but this is the closest we have gotten to someone the Hunters have actually interacted with before, that we are aware of. We need to get every piece of information out of him, before he dies. This may be our only lead." "They are all valid points," I say with a sigh. "We'll keep him alive til the AAM. Then we will decide what to do with him when the full Council has reformed. I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, Richard. Have a good evening." "You too, Amaris. Pass on my well wishes to Sol." I hang up the phone, sighing loudly. Everything that Richard says makes sense, it just makes my skin crawl knowing that the rogue is still alive underneath my own roof. I stand up, cricking my neck as I head towards mine and Sol's bedroom. Sol was still vegging out watching TV in bed, surrounded by cats. Thankfully Ozzy and Zelda were warming up to Gandalf, even if they still weren't 100% sure on him. I grab a can of coke on route, popping my head round the door and smiling at the sight in front of me. Sol had changed into one of my wife beaters, sitting propped up against the headboard with a bowl of nachos. She turns to look at me, smiling back as she pats her hand on the bed beside her. I don't need much more of an invitation, walking quickly over to the bed and plopping myself down beside her. "Hey beautiful," I say, tilting her chin up and lightly kissing her lips. "You look a lot better." "I feel a lot better," Sol replies. "Sorry to worry you like that." "It's not like you did it deliberately," I say, grabbing a chip. "I'm just pleased you're better now." I check my fitbit, it's only just gone 5pm. I wrap my arm around Sol's shoulders, settling in for the movie she's put on the TV, just wanting some chill out time before dinner tonight.
