Chapter 17On Monday, I set about the task of working things out with Casey and getting her back on track. I began with an apology to her. I was too harsh on Thursday, and the weekend had allowed me time to get some perspective. She was so young when she had Cora, and she had no support. Yelling at her was the wrong move. “No, you were right,” she assured me. “It’s just I’m not sure that Cora wouldn’t be better off with my parents. I’m a failure, Lu. Every move I make with her seems wrong. I wanted to be the best mom ever, you know? I was going to show my mom how it was done. I was going to give my daughter everything my mom didn’t. But now, I realize how hard it is, and while I don’t agree with my parents ‘divorcing’ me and trying to take Cora, at least they have the money to buy her clot
