He had seen his daughter angry before, defiant at times, but this—this was different. This was Celine tearing herself free, leaving behind not just her family, but her entire life. And she hadn’t looked back. “She…” His voice caught, the words strangled in his throat. He tried again, but disbelief weighed down every syllable. “She really left. She had the guts to walk away from us. From me.” His wife sank to her knees on the cold wooden floor, her hands trembling as she clutched at her apron.
