Mine to Protect

Evelyn could barely breathe. The entire Moon Hall stood frozen in shock as the three most powerful men in the werewolf world stared at her like predators fighting over prey. Alpha Damon’s face darkened instantly. “This is impossible,” he growled. Alpha Kael smirked dangerously. “Looks very possible to me.” The Lycan King said nothing. Lucien simply continued staring at Evelyn with those glowing golden eyes that made her entire body tremble. The pressure coming from him was terrifying. Ancient. Deadly. The Moon Priestess remained on her knees, shaking violently. “The prophecy has awakened…” she whispered. Damon turned sharply toward her. “Explain yourself.” The old woman looked terrified to speak. But before she could answer— Evelyn suddenly screamed. Pain exploded through her chest again. Her body burned from the inside as strange purple markings slowly appeared along her arms. Gasps filled the hall. “She has a marking!” “That’s impossible!” “It looks royal…” Evelyn stared at her glowing skin in horror. “What’s happening to me?” Her heartbeat became louder. Faster. Stronger. And then— A voice echoed inside her head. Wake up. Evelyn froze. The voice wasn’t human. It sounded ancient. Powerful. Female. “Who are you?” Evelyn whispered weakly. Suddenly, the hall lights exploded. BOOM! Dark energy burst from Evelyn’s body, throwing nearby wolves across the room. Tables shattered. Windows cracked. Even powerful Alphas struggled to remain standing. Silence fell. Everyone stared at Evelyn in fear. Damon’s expression changed completely. For the first time since meeting her… He looked uncertain. Kael, however, looked excited. A dangerous grin appeared on his face. “Interesting,” he murmured. Lucien stepped forward slowly. The room instantly became colder. “Enough,” the Lycan King ordered. Nobody dared to move. Even Damon remained silent. Lucien stopped directly in front of Evelyn before gently lifting her chin. “You are frightened,” he said softly. Evelyn tried stepping back, but his hand tightened slightly. His touch sent strange warmth through her body. “Don’t touch her,” Damon snapped immediately. Kael laughed darkly. “Now you care? After rejecting her?” Damon’s jaw clenched. “She belongs to my pack.” “She belongs to nobody,” Kael replied coldly. “Especially not a fool who rejected his own mate.” Growls erupted between the two Alphas. The atmosphere instantly became violent. Pack members backed away in fear. Everyone knew one thing. If Damon and Kael fought here… Many people would die. But Lucien remained calm. Almost amused. Then his eyes shifted toward the Moon Priestess. “Tell them.” The old woman lowered her head immediately. “The prophecy speaks of a woman blessed by the Moon Goddess herself,” she whispered shakily. “A Luna born with the spirit of the First Wolf.” The room became silent again. “She will be desired by kings… feared by enemies… and protected by three Alphas.” Evelyn’s heart stopped. No… This couldn’t be real. “I think you’re mistaken,” she said quickly. “I’m nobody.” But the priestess looked directly at her. “You are Evelyn Nightbane.” Evelyn froze. Nightbane? That wasn’t her surname. “My parents died years ago,” she whispered. The priestess looked heartbroken. “No, child. They were murdered.” The words hit Evelyn like a knife. Murdered? Before she could ask another question— A loud horn suddenly echoed outside the pack walls. BOOOOOOM! The guards screamed. “We’re under attack!” Chaos exploded instantly. Pack warriors rushed toward the exits. Growls filled the air. Damon’s eyes darkened. “Who would dare attack my territory?” But Lucien already knew. “The rogues found her.” Fear spread across the hall. Rogues. Savage wolves without packs. Killers. Monsters. And they were coming for Evelyn. The giant hall doors suddenly burst open. Blood covered the floor as an injured warrior stumbled inside. “There are hundreds of them!” he shouted desperately. “They keep screaming her name!” Evelyn’s blood turned cold. Her? Why her? Then a terrifying howl echoed through the night. Not human. Not wolf. Something worse. Lucien immediately stepped in front of Evelyn protectively. Kael cracked his neck with excitement. Damon’s claws extended sharply. And for the first time in her life— Three Alphas stood ready to kill for Evelyn Carter. But deep inside the darkness outside the pack walls… Red eyes were already watching her.
