“The Blood Moon Bond has awakened!”
The Moon Priestess’s scream echoed through the shattered hall.
Evelyn stared at the glowing symbol burning beneath her skin.
A crescent moon dripping blood.
The mark pulsed painfully against her arm like it was alive.
“What is this?” she whispered in panic.
Nobody answered immediately.
Because every powerful creature in the room looked shocked.
Even afraid.
Cassian Draven—the Vampire King himself—stared at the mark with dark fascination.
Lucien’s face had turned dangerously cold.
Damon looked ready to kill someone.
And Kael…
Kael looked excited.
“Well,” he muttered, “this night keeps getting better.”
Evelyn grabbed her arm as the pain intensified.
Suddenly, strange energy surged through her veins.
Her eyes flashed purple for a brief second.
Cassian noticed immediately.
A slow smile appeared on his lips.
“So it’s true.”
Lucien stepped forward sharply.
“You will stay away from her.”
Cassian’s silver eyes moved lazily toward the Lycan King.
“You know exactly what that mark means.”
The atmosphere became suffocating.
Evelyn’s heartbeat pounded violently.
“What does it mean?” she demanded.
Nobody spoke.
That terrified her more than anything.
Finally, the Moon Priestess answered shakily.
“The Blood Moon Bond is an ancient connection forbidden by the Moon Goddess herself.”
Evelyn frowned.
“Forbidden?”
The old woman nodded fearfully.
“It only appears when the bloodlines of wolves and vampires become tied together.”
The entire hall erupted into chaos.
“That’s impossible!”
“Vampires and wolves are enemies!”
“It’s cursed!”
Evelyn stepped backward slowly.
“No…”
Cassian’s eyes remained fixed on her.
“Not cursed,” he said softly.
“Fated.”
Lucien’s killing aura exploded instantly.
BOOM!
Dark golden energy burst from his body, cracking the floor beneath him.
“Do not speak that word to her.”
For the first time since arriving—
Cassian’s smile disappeared.
The two ancient kings stared at each other with open hatred.
And Evelyn suddenly realized something horrifying.
This conflict between them was personal.
Very personal.
Kael folded his arms.
“Someone better start explaining before I lose patience.”
Damon agreed coldly.
“You clearly know more than the rest of us.”
Lucien remained silent for several seconds.
Then he finally spoke.
“Twenty-one years ago, a prophecy was discovered.”
Evelyn’s chest tightened.
“The prophecy spoke of a child born from the Blood Moon line… a being capable of ending the war between supernatural races.”
Cassian’s voice became quieter.
“Or ruling them all.”
The room fell silent again.
Evelyn’s breathing became uneven.
“You’re talking about me?”
Lucien looked directly at her.
“Yes.”
Her knees nearly gave out.
This couldn’t be happening.
She was an omega.
Weak.
Unwanted.
How could she suddenly be tied to ancient prophecies and supernatural wars?
Then Cassian spoke words that shattered her world completely.
“Your mother was not fully wolf.”
Evelyn froze.
“What?”
Cassian stepped closer slowly.
“She was half vampire.”
The hall exploded with outrage.
Impossible.
Disgusting.
Forbidden.
Evelyn’s head spun violently.
“No… you’re lying.”
But deep inside…
Something felt true.
Memories flashed briefly in her mind.
A beautiful woman with silver eyes singing softly.
Cold hands brushing through her hair.
A lullaby she somehow still remembered.
Evelyn stumbled backward.
“My mother…”
Cassian’s expression softened unexpectedly.
“She died protecting you.”
Lucien’s eyes darkened immediately.
“Enough.”
Cassian ignored him.
“They hunted her because she carried forbidden blood. And when you were born…” His red eyes locked onto Evelyn. “They feared you even more.”
Evelyn’s chest hurt so badly she could barely breathe.
Everything she believed about herself was collapsing.
Then Damon suddenly spoke.
“Who killed her?”
Silence.
A dangerous silence.
Cassian and Lucien exchanged a look filled with hatred.
And Evelyn instantly knew.
They both knew the answer.
“Tell me!” she shouted.
But before either man could speak—
A horrifying roar shook the entire territory.
The ground trembled violently.
Outside, wolves began screaming again.
Kael rushed toward the broken windows instantly.
His expression darkened.
“That’s not a vampire.”
Damon moved beside him.
Then both Alphas froze.
Evelyn slowly approached the windows.
And her blood turned cold.
A gigantic creature stood beyond the forest.
Twice the size of a normal wolf.
Black fur.
Glowing red eyes.
And chains hanging from its neck.
The monster lifted its head toward the Moon Hall.
Toward Evelyn.
Then it spoke in a deep inhuman voice.
“Bring me…the Moon Chosen.”
Fear exploded across the territory.
The Moon Priestess collapsed again trembling.
“No…” she whispered. “They awakened a Shadow Beast.”
Lucien’s expression became deadly.
Because Shadow Beasts were extinct.
At least…
They were supposed to be.
