Gilberto was a person with a meticulous mind and a suspicious nature, so it was highly likely that he was testing Zoey.
If she were to dispose of the fish hastily, it would instead raise Gilberto's suspicion. So she had to come up with a plan.
She walked out of the kitchen and said, "I wasn't very good at cooking, especially fish."
Gilberto took off his coat and put on his shoes. "It's okay, I am good at cooking fish," he said. Zoey didn't mention eating fish, but I think having some fish soup during the confinement period is still beneficial."
