LILITH I had spent all morning perfecting my appearance. I was finally released from the dungeon and I knew I had to seek Atticus out again. My hair, washed and braided into an elegant twist, framed my face just the way I knew Atticus would like it. I wore a soft, flowing gown that clung to my waist, a pale lavender that made my eyes stand out. I’d never gone to such lengths before—I mean, I always go the extra length just to please Atticus—but today was different. Today, I was going above and beyond because I had to make things right.
