Chapter 1: Meeting Again

380 Words
Emma was feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness as she stepped off the plane and into the bustling airport. She was back in her hometown for the first time in years, and she was eager to reconnect with old friends and explore the familiar streets and buildings she'd missed so much. But there was one person in particular she was hoping to see again. It had been ten years since she'd last laid eyes on Jack, her high school sweetheart. They'd been inseparable back then, but after graduation, they'd gone their separate ways. Emma had moved across the country to pursue her dream of becoming a writer, while Jack had stayed put and started working at his father's auto repair shop. She'd thought about him often over the years, wondering what he was up to and whether he ever thought about her too. And when she'd received a f*******: message from him a few weeks ago, asking if she'd like to grab coffee and catch up, she'd jumped at the chance. As she made her way through the crowded airport, scanning the faces of strangers for a glimpse of Jack, her heart raced. Would he still be as handsome as she remembered? Would they still have chemistry after all these years? She tried to quell her nerves by reminding herself that they were just friends catching up. But as soon as she saw him waiting for her at the arrivals gate, all her cool composure evaporated. He looked amazing, even better than she remembered. His dark hair was still tousled in that way she'd always found so irresistible, and his blue eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled. He was wearing a leather jacket and jeans, and he looked like he'd stepped straight out of a magazine. "Emma!" he exclaimed, pulling her into a hug. "It's so good to see you." She hugged him back, feeling a thrill run through her body at the touch of his strong arms. "It's good to see you too, Jack." As they pulled back from the embrace, she noticed that he was still holding her hands. She looked up at him, and he gave her a lopsided grin. "Come on," he said, tucking her arm through his. "Let's go get that coffee."
