Chapter 52

611 Words

Brian Connor’s head rested on the table in the interview room as he wept uncontrollably. For almost 15 years, he’d dreamed of reuniting with his family. Possibly even picking up where they’d left off. He’d now learned that the college sweetheart he’d gone on to marry, and their precious daughter, had died 12 years earlier. When he’d composed himself, he asked, “You said Blake was injured in the crash. How bad? Did he survive?” “Broken bones, which all healed well. He went on to live in a series of foster homes until he graduated and went to college. These weren’t bad foster home situations, but he didn’t fit into any well enough to stay permanently,” Marshal Codden said. “He was such a wonderful boy. He and I did everything together. Back then, I thought it would be like that forever.”
