CHAPTER 27 Powell parked the Bronco on a cemetery lane not far from Nora’s grave. He turned off the engine, then climbed out of the Bronco and opened the tailgate. He took out the folding chair he’d picked up at Target, then closed the tailgate and walked across the grass with the folding chair under his arm. The gravesite was near the top of a hill and shaded by oak trees. When he got there Powell unfolded the chair and set it on the grass a few feet from her grave. Then he sat down and looked at the headstone. It was nothing special, just a simple marker that noted her birth and date but said nothing about the life she lived between those dates or the time she and Powell had spent together.
