CHAPTER 11 The girl walked halfway down the block on Divisadero, then went into a pizza joint called Pizza Pup, which was sandwiched between a nail salon and a Chinese restaurant. There was a sign out front of a happy puppy wolfing down a slice of pepperoni pizza like there was no tomorrow. Below the sign, through big picture windows that looked out onto the street, Tana could see a few red, Formica-topped tables and chairs, a counter and the ovens. Kids in their twenties wearing red Pizza Pup T-shirts were working the counter and sliding pizzas in and out of the ovens. Tana watched as the girl fist-bumped with the Pizza Pup kids, then disappeared through swinging doors in the back of the restaurant. Tana paused. Now what, she asked herself. She’d stalked a total stranger to a pizza join
