CHAPTER 51 Tana heard it the moment she stepped inside the lobby. “Mon-ta-na!” a voice boomed across the lobby. Tana looked up and saw JD grinning and holding the elevator for her. She rolled her eyes, then walked over to the elevator. “Morning, JD,” she said. “It is still morning?” JD said, checking his watch with a theatrical flourish. “Sorry, I’m late,” Tana said as the elevator doors closed. “My apartment got broken into last night.” “Oh no,” JD said as he faked a horrified expression. “That's terrible. They take much?” “I don’t know, haven’t had time to check. Didn’t want to be late. Or more late, anyway.” “Of course you didn’t,” JD said with a patronizing smile.
