With Mars’ help, Dylan managed to keep his cool while they waited for Tiger to arrive. They watched a game show—trying to beat each other and the contestants to the answers—followed by reruns of a comedy show. When nine o’clock rolled around, Dylan started glancing at the callbox on the wall by the front door. Half an hour passed, and no Tiger. “He’s not coming,” Dylan muttered. “Oh, he’ll show. He’s just trying to make you nervous so you’ll greet him with open arms,” Mars replied with a grin. “Open arms, my ass.” Mars laughed. “Whatever his reason, he will be here. He thinks you’re well off, with plenty of toys. He wants those and anything else he—” Mars’ words were cut off by the sound of the buzzer. While Dylan went to answer, Mars walked quickly to the laundry room off the kitchen
