~ Scarlett’s POV ~ The night wrapped the manor in a heavy, quiet stillness. Mist pressed against the windows, turning the world outside into shapeless, nameless things. I’d always loved nights like this. Everything felt easier to shape… people’s hearts, their fears, their loyalties. All softer in the dark. My heels struck the floor in soft, measured steps as I led Nathan down the east wing corridor. I still can't believe that he stupidly followed me to the Crimson Moon pack. He followed, stiff as a blade behind me. I didn’t need to turn to sense his suspicion, the way his shoulders squared when I glanced back and offered him a trembling, too-perfect smile. He still thinks I’m breakable. Good. Let them think I was delicate, clinging to old grief. That was the beauty of it…how easily
