CHAPTER NINETEEN I gave an appreciative whistle. Eva turned to us with a tired smile as she held open one hand. Her broom swooped into her hold, and she moved over to stand before us with shimmering eyes. “A great pity I have not the strength I once had, or you would have seen a greater mending than that.” I raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?” She grasped the broom in both hands and sighed. “There was a time when the magic was stronger in the Land, but it has grown tired over the last century.” Her bright expression faltered a little as she turned her face slightly away from us and stared at the ground.
