A Magical world pt (1)

1180 Words
Crestell was a small City under the rule of the Thuriza kingdom, the one of the few kingdoms claimed by the Human race. While Crestell is known as a city, it was in truth just a slightly large town at the remote edges of the kingdom. As a result, besides the Magical awakening ceremony, the upper Echelons of society didn't pay this large backwater village much if any attention. It was early in the morning and the sun had been up for only three hours. Inside a little brick house stood a young boy who looked to be around seven or eight years old. It had almost been nine years since James had been reborn into this new world and with each passing day, he becomes more excited and eager to explore. James stood before a slightly green tinted mirror looking at himself. Ever since he had been able to see clearly as a baby, which took around month. He had been shocked repeatedly. The People, Architecture, and even the Sky told him that he was no longer on Earth. Imagine his surprise when he looked to the sky one night and realised that there was actually two moons hanging beautifully above him. Or his shock when he saw his mother clearly for the first time. Or when he had finally seen himself. He could tell that he, his mother or any of the 'People' he had seen since his rebirth were not true 'Homo Sapiens'. As humans only possessed black pigmentation in their eyes. Where as he had seen orange, red, purple even pink coloured irises! Hair colour was a whole different pot of soup. His mother's hair was jet black in colour, while her pupils were orange. His own irises were purple and so was the tips of his mostly black hair! Baffled by this James had once shaved off all of his hair just to measure how much of his hair was purple. It had been strange to see his head of purple hair a few weeks after. His black hair was only visible after it had grown a few inches. Of course his mother was mortified by his little experiment and had ruthlessly scolded him. Thankfully after a few years of shock, James was almost immune to the absurdly he sees daily, signing off these quirky features as normal and gradual mutations. Looking at himself, he couldn't help but think of how far he had come after being reincarnated. He couldn't help but remember the months following his insanely horrific and traumatic ejection from his mother's womb, where he was forced to slowly adapt to the hellscape that was the outside world. At that time his tender senses were still being overloaded with information tormenting him to no end and he was just starting to gather useful information from his surroundings. Surprisingly, his days as a newborn had been very exciting. He would smell new scents that were pleasant, unpleasant and familiar.   His sight was blurry and appeared to be mostly made up of shapes and colours. James was a bit worried that his sight was damaged but over time, he began noting some improvement in his vision. Sounds were still wickedly loud back then, causing him to be startled from his sleep regularly. He had also discovered that he was strangely tired all the time. He had personally understood why babies cried so much. He, a 'grown man' was most definitely guilty of bawling excessively out of misery. Of course he would never confess to this.....not even to himself. James would usually just convince himself that he was only crying as a way of keeping up his appearance as a newborn. James had also encountered quite a few frustrating, uncomfortable and plainly embarrassing situations. Some of which were at times when he had to be changed, fed or bathed. James was pulled from his musings as his mother called for him. "Dragx, it's time to go!" His mother shouted. Answering her, James or should we say Dragx, tugged at his crotch before running out of his small room towards his mother muttering under his breath how uncomfortable the underwear worn by the people of this world was. O::. Even in the early mornings, the streets of Crestell were cramped and full of life. This was so because despite the city being small, it was still the epicenter of the region where scores of mountain villages traded various goods. Efanachica Futhark held her child's small hand as they made their way through the crowd. Glancing at her son, she smiled at the excited look on his face as she lead him through the small streets of the city. She couldn't help but wonder why he was so excited. Usually Dragx would have an indifferent or bored expression while they went out. 'That old lady must have a present for him or something.' She thought to her self smilingly. 'That old lady' who she was thinking about, is actually her employer and closest confident, Lady Phyllis. The kind old woman had sheltered and gave her work in her time of need. Miss Phyllis was also the one who helped her through childbirth and assisted her in nurturing Dragx. Realising how unusually well behaved Dragx was, Phyllis showered him with love. Efanachica couldn't help but smile at how lady Phyllis unflinchingly doted on Dragx as if he was her treasured grandchild. After a few minutes of walking, the mother and son duo arrived at a small and familiar wooden building called the Adventurer's Abode. The familiar sound of a jingling little bell greets her upon entering the store. Efanachica smelled the usual scent of wood, herbal potions, books and rusting pig iron. The items inside the shop were arranged neatly with a bit of elegance rarely seen in a town such as Crestell. Despite the shop being small and humble, it radiated a peaceful and homely air, even with the incomplete pieces of armor and weapons. At the center of the small room a petite elderly lady sat behind a wooden counter with a calm and peaceful smile on her face. After greeting each other, lady Phyllis walked around the counter and began ruffle Dragx's hair. Usually Dragx would try his best to dodge the claws of anyone who tried to ruffle his hair or squeeze his chubby cheeks. However knowing that she had a present for him, he silently beared the torture. 'Cheeky brat!'. Lady Phyllis smiled amiably at Dragx. After giving Dragx a head pating that would make any pet jealous. Lady Phyllis returned to the counter and retrieved a large book. "Be careful this book is very heavy." Lady Phyllis warned him before handing over the ancient- looking book. Dragx's eyes brightened As soon as the book landed in his waiting hands. This was because printed on the battered cover of the book was a faded five pointed star symbol! It was a Pentagram! The the universal sign of magic known by all Mages. Dragx could tell that this book was probably a Mage Codex!
