Put me back!

Genesis laboratory shook violently as the energy within their containment pods became unstable. Sparks flashed within the building as people ran frantically trying to stabilize the experiment or to exit the building. The main engineer of the experiment was greatly trying to stop a catastrophic explosion. "Damn it! Damn it! DAMN IT! Why is it becoming unstable,my calculations where accurate! There must be a way to stop this, at this rate the energy will cause the building to explode!"  He shouted. "The energy levels are raising at an alarming rate and is becoming more dangerous, what should we do sir?" An assistant asked panic stricken. James closed his eyes  collecting his thoughts. "Notify all personnel in the lab to immediately exit, you all leave as well I will remain here and try to keep the energy levels stable long enough for you to escape". "But sir you will die if you do that!" The assistant looked even more scared and panicked which was how everyone within the room looked. "And if I don't all of us will die so listen to me and leave!" James shouted to his coworkers and assistants. They where hesitant at first but soon they came to their senses and they all started to leave. In ten minutes James was informed that the lab was clear. James waited 1 more minute before he enabled the  "lock down protocol." "At least I won't be taking anyone with me to hell." James chuckled at the thought. The energy levels in the building  became catastrophically high and a loud explosion was heard throughout the building as the energy tore through the it's containers and flowed through the building. Before the energy reached the room which James resided he closed off all entrances, and awaited his death, he thought about his life and how he wished he did more with it, he was an orphan that fought his way through the scientific community to reach where he is and now he will lose it all. James watched as the white energy ripped open the doors and washed the room like a angry wave. He closed his eyes accepting death. The white light slammed into him and pushed him back, the energy poured into his body like a burst dam pouring into a river. Oddly James felt no pain as the energy came into contact with him, in fact he felt invincible, he felt like he could tear the world in two. James lifted his hands to his face as he watched as they disintegrated before his eyes suddenly all his memories and thoughts flashed before his eyes and then every thing when black. His last thoughts: "My...my search history.....I forgot to.....clear it....damn. O::. 'Where am I?' James thought. He couldn't see anything. Darkness..... it was everywhere. He was in a great sea of darkness. He couldn't tell left from right, up from down. He couldn't even feel himself. It was as if he was apart of the darkness. 'I.....is this the afterlife, is this hell?' He asked himself. James was never one to believe much in any religion. As a child he watched countless documentaries and read a great amount about the Earth, the Universe, Life and Evolution. He used to wonder if the delicate balance of Life and the Universe was arranged by a great unseen hand. However he never believed in the concepts of Heaven or Hell, but now he couldn't help but question his beliefs He wished to turn his neck to at least get his bearings but alas....he had no neck. 'Why am I alone here? Where are the other damned souls? He wondered. He was confused as this darkness was not what he heard of the afterlife. Was there really no Heaven? No Hell? No new life after death? No horned red Devil with the giant pitch fork? No Pearly white gateway to the land of milk and honey? He couldn't help but laugh to himself at the thought. How disappointed many people will be when they die. All those lovers who swore to meet in another life or those who died unjustly and are waiting for their murderers. As he 'floated' in the darkness a hypothesis he heard once came to him, 'Perhaps this darkness is the origin of all life and all life shall return to it. Perhaps life is just a vacation from this darkness and when one dies, Man, Beast and Plant returns to this darkness. Maybe the afterlife was just a dream people clutch onto because they fear this life is the end?' Strangely he didn't feel even the faintest sense of desperation or saddness. He soon lost all track of time and his sense of self. Trying to become one with the surrounding darkness. After all wasn't it better to completely become nothing, than to be tortured by your own lonesome thought? However he never truly could, there was always one thought on his mind, 'What if there are others?' Surely he couldn't be alone here in this darkness! He couldn't accept this! After all an uncountable number of people die very day. Not just people but beasts as well. Shouldn't they be here too floating around. He was also certainly not the first living being to die or will he be the last, so where are his "Elders and Juniors in death?" Could it be that they had succumbed to the darkness and if that was the case why didn't he? There was never anything special about him in his whole life so why is he still tethering along in the void? As he thought to this point he couldn't help but sigh inwardly. It was also at this time something strange occurred! *Badump* His entire being throbbed! *Badump* He felt it again! He actually felt something! 'How!' James screamed mentally. He realised that he actually felt centered and grounded as well! He became excited and tried to move or open his eyes only to fail. 'Just what is happening!' O::. Time passed and James continued to 'feel' his body throbbing continuously. In fact he could sense even more. He could feel the blood pumping through him with each throb and he could even clench his fingers! He was being reborn! As time passed he felt himself growing and becoming stronger. He was still in darkness but he felt warmth. He could feel sleepy and even dream. When he wakes up he stretches and feels a resistance as if he was in a bubble or a ball. James could even hear sounds of a lady talking. The sounds were a bit muffled but those sounds were divine tunes to him as they were the only sounds he could hear apart from his and his mother's heartbeat. He had realised long ago that he has been reincarnated and is now a developing child inside a woman's womb. As a scientist he had thousands of questions as how this could happen. One of these questions was how could he even retain memories of his past when he now a developing child? He knew that permanent memories are made through neural connections within the brain. So how did his developing brain have these neural pathways? 'I have plenty of time to figure it out!' He thought. O::. James had to wait for quite some time, months he assumed, until he suddenly felt his body being pushed forward. Ever so slowly his head was being squeezed. Over time the pressure only increased as he felt himself being 'evicted' from his cozy abode. Finally, his head popped out, only to be held by huge fleshy hands. The pressure gripped his neck then his shoulders and arms until finally he was free. However, James didn't feel as excited and happy as he had thought. The world didn't welcome him into it's warm embrace, instead he felt the cold, bitter unforgiving chill of the atmosphere. As if the world was trying to suck the warmth from his tiny body. Loud noises boomed around him in a high volume he never heard before. The booming noises and bitter chill, coupled with the abrupt feeling of something at his stomach being snipped, caused poor old James to shout out. Suddenly, with a heave, he drew his first breath! The air was cold and coarse, scratching his unused and tender wind pipe. He was quickly wrapped in a cloth by the massive hands holding cradling him. Loud sounds of chatter filled his mind with confusion and for a moment he opened his eyes only to have blinding light stabbing into his eyes. James screamed out in pain and discomfort as the elements of nature tormented his small frail body. The only thought that came to him at that moment was: 'ACK! I WANNA GO BACK!'
