He got through the weekend by throwing himself into his work.
When next he encountered Zac, they spoke of nothing but the bill. Joseph told himself it was easier that way, but he couldn’t help but feel a little offended at how completely Zac seemed to have switched from would-be suitor to disinterested colleague. Surely it couldn’t be that easy for an Alpha to back off in the face of rejection? And what kind of Alpha would even accept a rejection, anyway? It just wasn’t in their nature.
