Chapter 31: Arrival
At Mbaku’s manor I woke before the break of dawn to supervise the maids as they went about their daily chores. Everybody in the palace awaited Prince T’chada’s return. Mbaku had already left to make sure everything was intact as was planned. Everyone in the palace must be awake by now. I thought. “My lady” Jabari called out as he bowed slightly. “Jabari, you’re still here?” I asked. “Yes, my lady. His Highness asked me to stay here and be your guard for today” “Why? I thought Laya is with me for the same reason” “Yes, my lady. However, I’m here because His Highness thinks you need more guards today” Mbaku, you’re just so creepy! I thought. “Ok, Jabari” “His Highness said he won’t be having breakfast today. He may return to eat lunch in the afternoon.” “Ok” I replied with a smil
