Chapter 34: Panic

At Mbaku’s manor

Mbaku and I arrived at our manor very late. Mbaku wanted to see his mother off but didn’t want me to leave before he does. Lady Shui left the King’s garden in our carriage. Our carriage took Lady Shui to the King’s harem before taking us to our manor. Lady Shui did not utter a word throughout the journey.

“Mbaku” I called out when as we climbed the stairs into the compound of the manor.

Mbaku turned to look at me. He looked very tired but was ready to listen to me.

“Let’s bath together tonight” I said.

“Why?” Mbaku asked.

“It’s very late. I can’t bath alone in my bathhouse”

“Really? Laya will accompany you. She’ll wait for you at the entrance of the bathhouse”

“No!” I protested. “I want us to bath together”

“I’m not in a mood for any argument. Do as you wish”
