46 An object burns in the moon’s atmosphere and a small figure drops from the sky like a fallen angel. It passes over Littlefoot’s carcass and out of sight. In my comms, I see through Charles eyes, and it shows me to be a mere ant between a steady laser beam and scattered laser blasts. He sets his sights on Beavis and the Pulsar. It’s like he’s looking at the Pulsar through a telescopic lens, as it zooms ever closer on my comms. I wait for him to shoot it with a robotic blaster. But nothing. I wait for him to drop a bomb on it before flying away with some robotic thrusters he didn’t tell me about. But nothing. The laser is almost upon me. At least I’ll die instantly. ‘Charles?’ In my comms the Pulsar looms large. Beavis is so concentrated on ending me that he doesn’t even look up. T
