This story holds a special place in my heart, because my entire writing career started with what is now the beginning of this novella. Back in October 2012, I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, crossed my fingers and even my toes, and clicked 'Publish' on a short story called Ladies' Day. Although I've made a few changes and additions, and unpublished the original, the same story is still present in Chapters 1 to 5 of this book you're reading now. It was the first thing I ever finished and offered for sale, and as such, the biggest milestone I have to show for as an author.
