Chapter 1: The Shattered Bond

The grand ballroom of the Blood Moon Pack was a sea of shimmering lights, expensive silk, and the heavy, metallic scent of powerful wolves. Tonight was the most anticipated night of the year—the Autumn Solstice. For most, it was a night of celebration, but for me, it was the night that would determine my entire future. I stood in the corner, smoothing out the fabric of my simple, faded blue dress. I was eighteen today. The age where every werewolf finally finds their fated mate—the person the Moon Goddess chose specifically for their soul. "Don't get your hopes up, Selene," a voice sneered from behind me. I turned to see my stepmother, Beatrice, looking at me with her usual cold eyes. "A wolfless omega like you is lucky to even be allowed in this room. If the Goddess has any mercy, she’ll give you to a lowly guard so we can finally marry you off and be rid of your shame." I lowered my head, biting my lip to keep from crying. It was true. At eighteen, most wolves had already shifted, but my inner wolf remained silent. I was a "wolfless" freak in a pack that valued strength above all else. Suddenly, the air in the room changed. A powerful, dominant aura swept through the hall, making the hair on my neck stand up. The chattering died down as the heavy oak doors swung open. Killian Blackwood walked in. He was the future Alpha, a lethal warrior with skin the color of bronze and hair as dark as a moonless night. His presence was so suffocatingly masculine that several female wolves gasped for air. He was a god among men, and everyone expected him to find a high-ranking Luna tonight. As he walked past the crowd, his head suddenly snapped in my direction. His obsidian eyes locked onto mine, and for a second, the world stopped spinning. Then, it hit me. A scent like sandalwood, rain, and fresh earth flooded my senses. It was intoxicating. A spark of white-hot electricity surged from the base of my spine to every nerve ending in my body. My heart didn't just beat; it thundered. Mate. The word echoed in my mind, a primal scream of joy. The Moon Goddess hadn't forgotten me. She had given me the strongest man in the pack. I felt a surge of hope I hadn't felt in years. Maybe, just maybe, my life was about to change. Killian walked toward me, his pace slow and predatory. The crowd parted like the Red Sea. I could see the confusion on people’s faces. Why was the future Alpha walking toward the "trash" of the pack? I looked up at him, my eyes wide and shimmering with unshed tears. "Mate," I whispered, the word barely a breath. Killian stopped inches from me. He was so tall I had to crane my neck to see him. For a heartbeat, I thought I saw a flicker of something in his eyes—a spark of recognition. But it was gone as quickly as it appeared, replaced by a wall of ice. He didn't reach out to touch me. He didn't pull me into his arms. Instead, he leaned down, his voice a low, dangerous growl that only I could hear. "You have to be kidding me," he hissed. "A wolfless, pathetic omega? You are the mate the Goddess chose for me?" I flinched as if he had slapped me. "Killian... I..." "Silence!" he commanded, his Alpha voice vibrating through my very bones, forcing me to snap my mouth shut. He stepped back, looking at me as if I were a piece of filth stuck to the bottom of his boot. He raised his voice, making sure every single person in the ballroom could hear him. "Look at this!" Killian shouted, gesturing toward me. "The Moon Goddess has played a cruel joke on the Blood Moon Pack. She expects me, your future Alpha, to take this weak, useless girl as your Luna!" Cruel laughter erupted from the crowd. I saw Beatrice smirking. I saw Sarah, the beautiful daughter of the Beta, laughing behind her hand. The humiliation was a physical weight, crushing the air out of my lungs. "I have spent my life training to lead this pack to greatness," Killian continued, his voice cold and resolute. "I will not have my bloodline tainted by a woman who cannot even shift. I need a Queen, not a liability." He looked me dead in the eye, and I saw no mercy. Only hatred. "I, Killian Blackwood, future Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, hereby reject you, Selene Moon, as my mate and my future Luna! I sever the bond that ties us, now and forever!" CRACK. That was the sound of my soul breaking. The invisible thread that had just connected our hearts snapped with the force of a lightning strike. A searing, white-hot pain exploded in my chest, more agonizing than any physical wound. It felt like my heart was being shredded by a thousand silver blades. I fell to the floor, my knees hitting the marble with a sickening thud. I clutched my chest, gasping for air, but my lungs felt like they were filled with lead. The rejection was tearing me apart from the inside out. "Take her out of here," Killian ordered the guards, his voice devoid of any emotion. "She is no longer part of this pack. From this moment on, Selene Moon is Rogue. If she is seen on our lands by sunrise, she is to be hunted." The guards grabbed my arms, dragging me across the floor like a sack of trash. I didn't fight them. I couldn't. The pain was too much. I looked back one last time and saw Killian pulling Sarah into his arms, whispering something in her ear that made her giggle. They threw me out into the pouring rain. I crawled into the mud, the cold water mixing with my tears. I was alone. I had no family, no pack, and no mate. I ran. I didn't know where I was going, but I ran until the lights of the pack house disappeared. I ran until my feet bled and my dress was torn to shreds by thorns. Finally, I collapsed under a giant, ancient oak tree deep in the neutral territories. I waited for death. I waited for my heart to stop beating from the sheer weight of the rejection. But then, something strange happened. The agonizing pain in my chest didn't stop, but it was suddenly joined by something else. A faint, golden warmth began to glow deep within my womb. It was small, but it was incredibly powerful—a hum of energy that felt ancient and divine. I gasped, pressing my hands against my stomach. I was wolfless, yet my senses were suddenly sharper than any Alpha's. I could hear the heartbeat of the forest... and then, I heard them. Thump-thump. Thump-thump. Thump-thump. Three distinct, tiny heartbeats. My eyes widened in the darkness. It was impossible. A werewolf pregnancy takes months to show, and the bond had only just been formed and broken. But the Moon Goddess works in mysterious ways. In the moment the bond snapped, her final gift had taken root. Killian thought he had destroyed me. He thought he had ended my bloodline. He was wrong. I wasn't just a rejected omega anymore. I was a mother. And I was carrying three heirs who would one day make him regret the very day he was born. I stood up, the rain washing the mud from my face. I wasn't crying anymore. My eyes, once dull and brown, flashed a brilliant, lethal silver in the moonlight. "I will survive," I whispered to the dark forest. "And one day, Killian Blackwood... you will beg for my mercy
