The air in the Council Chamber turned frigid as the words hung between us like a death sentence. Three pups. One looks exactly like you. Killian’s hand dropped from his phone, his face pale, his eyes wide with a mix of haunting realization and rising fury. He looked at me not as the CEO of Moonstone Industries, but as the ghost of the woman he had discarded. The mask of 'Elena Moon' was shattered, and beneath it, the raw, bleeding heart of Selene Moon was exposed.
"You're alive," he whispered, his voice cracking. "And you... you had my children?"
I didn't answer. I couldn't. Adrenaline surged through my veins, cold and sharp. My only thought was my children. Xander, Lucian, and Aria were in danger. If Killian’s scouts had seen them, it meant they were being hunted.
I didn't give him the satisfaction of a confession. I turned on my heel and bolted toward the exit.
"Selene! Stop!" Killian’s roar shook the very foundations of the stone chamber.
I heard his heavy footsteps behind me, the sound of an Alpha in full pursuit. I burst through the oak doors, sprinting down the hallway with a speed that shouldn't be possible for a "wolfless" omega. But I wasn't that girl anymore.
I reached the parking lot and dove into my silver sports car, flooring the accelerator just as Killian reached the entrance. In the rearview mirror, I saw him shifting—his clothes tearing as a massive, obsidian wolf took his place. He let out a howl that echoed through the city, a command for his pack to intercept me.
"Lucian! Respond!" I barked into my earpiece as I swerved through traffic.
"Mommy! We’re okay, but Xander led us into the woods because he saw a deer," Lucian’s voice was frantic. "There are wolves in black tactical gear surrounding the clearing. They haven't attacked, but they’re not letting us leave!"
"Hold on, my brave boy. Mommy is coming," I hissed, my knuckles white on the steering wheel.
I didn't drive toward the villa. I drove toward the neutral forest, the place where it had all begun six years ago. I crashed my car through the brush and leaped out before it even stopped. I could smell them—the Blood Moon scouts. And I could smell Killian, closing in fast from behind.
I shifted mid-air.
It wasn't a painful, bone-breaking shift like the ones omegas endured. It was an explosion of light and power. My skin didn't just turn to fur; it turned to silver silk. My bones didn't just crack; they grew stronger, imbued with the ancient power of the Moon Goddess herself.
I landed on four paws, a massive, shimmering Silver Wolf. I was larger than any Beta, nearly as large as an Alpha. I let out a roar—not a howl, but a sovereign roar that commanded the very trees to tremble.
I reached the clearing in seconds. Six Blood Moon scouts were closing in on my pups. Lucian was standing in front of his siblings, holding a small EMP device he had built, while Xander had shifted into a small, fierce brown pup, growling with all his might. Aria was crying, her small hands glowing with a golden light as she tried to shield her brothers.
“GET AWAY FROM THEM!” I projected my voice into the minds of every wolf in the forest.
The scouts froze, their eyes widening in terror as they saw the legendary Silver Wolf. They scrambled back, but it was too late. I was a blur of silver lightning. I didn't kill them—I wasn't a monster—but I slammed into them with enough force to send them flying into the trunks of trees, knocking them unconscious instantly.
I stood over my pups, my silver fur bristling, my eyes glowing like twin stars.
"Mommy?" Aria whispered, recognizing my scent.
Suddenly, a massive black wolf burst into the clearing. Killian.
He skidded to a halt, his obsidian fur matted with sweat and dirt. He looked at the unconscious scouts, then at the three pups, and finally, he looked at me. His wolf, a creature of pure dominance, suddenly whined. He lowered his head, his ears flattening in submission—not to my strength, but to the sheer majesty of the Silver Wolf.
Killian shifted back into his human form, standing naked and vulnerable in the middle of the clearing. He didn't care about his pride anymore. His eyes were fixed on the three children.
"They... they are mine," he breathed, his voice trembling with an emotion I couldn't name. Regret? Longing? "Xander... he has my father’s eyes. And the boy with the dark hair... he looks just like me."
He took a step forward, his hand outstretched toward Aria. “Please, Selene. Let me see them.”
I shifted back, my silver gown magically reforming around my body, a gift of my new rank. I stepped in front of my children, my gaze icy.
"Do not touch them," I said, my voice vibrating with Alpha power. "You rejected them the night you rejected me. You called them a 'taint' on your bloodline before they were even born."
"I didn't know!" Killian screamed, tears finally breaking through his hard exterior. "I was a fool! I was blinded by tradition and pride! Selene, please... they are my heirs. They are the future of the Blood Moon Pack."
"They are NOT the future of your pack," I spat. "They are the future of MINE. I am the Alpha of the Silver Rogue Pack. We are stronger than you, Killian. We are wealthier than you. And we don't need a father who thinks strength is only measured by a wolf's rank."
"Mommy, is this the man who made you cry?" Xander asked, shifting back into a young boy, his small chest puffing out defiantly.
Killian looked at his son—his firstborn—and I saw his heart break in real-time. The boy he had always dreamed of was standing right in front of him, and the boy hated him.
"I will do anything," Killian whispered, dropping to his knees in the dirt. "I will give you the pack. I will give you my life. Just... let me earn their forgiveness. Let me be a father."
"You want to be a father?" I stepped closer, looking down at the man who had once been my world. "Then you can start by staying away. We are leaving this territory tonight. If you follow us, Killian... I won't just knock your guards out. I will tear your pack house down stone by stone."
I turned to my children. "Lucian, Xander, Aria. Let’s go home."
As we walked away, Killian’s howl of pure, agonizing grief ripped through the forest. It was the sound of a man who had realized he had thrown away a diamond for a piece of glass.
The war wasn't over. I knew Killian wouldn't give up. He was an Alpha; he was born to hunt. But as I looked at my three beautiful, powerful children, I knew one thing for certain.
The rejected omega was gone. And the Alpha who replaced her was someone he could never hope to conquer.
