THE NEXT DAY after class, I found myself heading to the hospital without letting the guys know. While on the way, I chewed over what to tell Austin and I came off blank. My original plan was to tell him everything, about Levi and his threats but I wondered how he would take everything. Would he hate me if he knew it was my fault he was in the hospital bed all wounded? The feeling of not knowing what to expect, how our conversation would even go settled wrongly in my gut. Up ahead, the building of the general hospital came into view, the parallel white structure washed away with old age. I've always hated hospitals. They always held a sense of dullness and depression that hit me each time I walked through their lifeless doors. Swallowing my discomfort, I made it to the front desk. 'H
