Keys, shoes, wallet, phone, I ran through the essential checklist one last time, making sure I hadn't forgotten anything before I left for Claire's house. Why we were even having this meeting with Nate was beyond me; he's the enemy, and we're just inviting him into our circle and sharing information? That would be the best way for those boys to be able to cover their tracks.
Claire didn't give me much to go on, as to why she's now convinced Nate is on our side, she just told me I had to hear him out for myself. Well, I'll listen to what he has to say. I can read through bullshit pretty easily, but I won't be giving him anything back. Nate will come to learn that, unlike the others, I am a rock; he can put the squeeze on me all he wants, but he won't get anything out of me.
